Has a battery, but to get continuous feed, they MUST be plugged in. The cameras MUST use the google home app, and do not show up in the nest app. This is fine if you don’t have any legacy nest cams, but if you do, the legacy cams in the google home app DO NOT have the same functionality as they do in the nest app. For example, if I want to scroll through the timeline just to see what happened that day, above and beyond the normal motion and sound alerts, the google home app does not allow me to do this for the legacy cameras. If google wants us to only use the google home app, then the functionality for the legacy devices needs to also be included.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews… this made me skeptical but I was excited for these so decided to purchase anyway. Had a very easy install, all you do is screw in the mounting bracket where you want and then the cam just connects on. It works perfect for people that don’t want to have to run a wire through their wall like myself. While I wish the camera would connect to my nest app, it does connect to your google home app and once you start using the app you get much more familiar with it. For the camera itself, the camera quality is great, connectivity is great, it uses motion detection and only records when motion is detected. You don’t have to scroll through hours of footage to find what your looking for, it only records the parts your looking for, another huge positive in my opinion. In the settings you have so many different customization options like setting zones, sensitivity, and adding familiar faces, all very cool tech. I would recommend this camera and going to add more myself

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Google Nest cams they have good quality picture they pick up good sound and the microphone works pretty dang well all in all a wonderful product...except if you buy the two pack of cameras Google thought it was good idea to give you only one charger and one charging cable which is absolutely ridiculous!!... I bought six of these things with a floodlight cam combo for 1300 some odd dollars and I still have to buy three cables and three charging blocks Google this is really stupid!!

Good hardware, don’t love some of the changes

I think they’ve made some significant improvements in the hardware, including the battery, ease of set up and overall durability. Unfortunately, Google’s newer generation of products is incompatible with the old nest app and requires the use of their newer home app instead. And migrating the old cameras to the new app, they lose some functionality. So you’re either left with inferior software, or using two apps if you want to maximize the utility of a system incorporating both older and newer generations of these cameras. If you are only purchasing the latest hardware, you probably won’t regret it, but for people that have the older cameras and want to incorporate one of these, be aware.

Great day and night video coverage

The only problem I have with the Nest Cam Battery 2 Pack is having to recharge them, I read the reviews and most said that the battery lasted 1 month or more, but that is not the case for the 4 cameras that I purchased. If you install them in an area that has a lot of activity the battery wears within 4-5 days. I purchased 4 cameras and installed them outside of my home. The charge on one camera has lasted almost 2 weeks, the area it is installed at does not have a lot of activity, but the other 3 cameras require constant charging.

Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios:
- Busy - About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
- Typical - About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
- Quiet - About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
If you're willing to try, we recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery). The picture and sound quality for this camera is amazing. It had an easy installation process so I was able to do it out of my second story back window and I didn’t need a ladder or anything. It’s a very simple and ergonomic design.

Good for most, Great for Google Home users!

Easy set up with wall plate, screws, and strong magnetic base and cam. Clear 1080p video with smart zones and alerts, pretty much all of the features you would expect in a security cam. We got about 2 weeks of battery before having to recharge. Good choice for anyone, great if you are already in the Google Home universe and looking to expand.

Battery is good, if it’s in a busy area you might have to charge more frequently but it does an amazing job. Always make sure to check setting for video for how often clips are taken.
