Settings are important
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to install and fit nicely where we needed it to. Battery is good, if it’s in a busy area you might have to charge more frequently but it does an amazing job. Always make sure to check setting for video for how often clips are taken.

||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture quality it amazing but the battery lofe is horrible. It last a week and i live in a dead end with not a lot of traffic. Also we've messed with the sensitivity and it still doesn't notify us half the time.

Camera Does Its Job
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These cameras work fine under daytime conditions but don't show anything in the dark. For that purpose, you'd need to get ones with motion sensor lights or put your camera in a well-lit area. They cover a broad range. I added solar panels to keep them charged.

Good video, not so great battery.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The video quality is good, the battery does not last as long as i hoped. I did buy the outdoor power cable and that has helped a lot.

Good camera, installation was very easy.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well contructed and easy to install and set up. I ended up purchasing the outdoor extension plug so I have it recording 24/7 but that made installation only slightly more difficult. If you were just running on battery then installation would be even easier.

Pretty good cams, installation very easy!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was initially very worried after reading all the negative reviews here, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised so far. They have been up for about 3 weeks and still have more than 75% battery life. The integration with the google home app is pretty seamless, and I can stream them directly to my nest hubs and Chromecasts. I’m giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because it sometimes seems to pick up events slightly late (e.g. an event will start with the person in center frame, should start as soon as the person enters the frame). Overall I’m happy with my purchase, and plan on hardwiring them in the near future for added benefit.

Great outdoor wireless camera
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the new Nest Cam as a replacement for an Arlo camera facing the driveway. The continuous recording of the Nest Cam (when it's plugged in and with the subscription I already have for the Nest doorcam) made this my preferred choice. The Bad (not as important as The Good; please read on) - Very big camera body. Compared to the Arlo 3 camera it replaced, it seems very wide. - Power connector on the bottom only accepts power cable facing forward toward the lens. It should be reversible so power cable can angle toward the back. - No option to disable green LED indicator. - Must use Google Home app (now I need 3 apps to view different cameras: Nest and Google Home Google; Arlo for Arlo) - Google Home app isn't as good as Nest app. It's basic, but it gets the job done. - Must use the magnetic mount even if using the screw mount on the bottom. Mount seems to switch camera on. Great for shipping, but bad for security as someone just needs to pull it off the wall to disable it. - Bottom screw mount not the best location. Would've like to hang camera from above. Screw mount should be on the back. The Good - Low monthly subscription cost. I pay $120 per year up-front which breaks down to $10 a month for any number of cameras continuously streaming. Cheap protection for the entire family when you think about it. - Pretty fast response times viewing the camera feed with the Google Home Hub desktop display (well, faster than Arlo anyway). This makes sense as they're both Google products. I pretty much expected this as the Nest doorbell cam works fast too so I was glad my expectation panned out. - Wide enough angle to cover entire driveway. In fact, it's almost covers the same area as the previous Arlo 3 camera it replaced (which is rated with a wider FOV). Go figure. - Recognition logic is built in (animals, people, cars). I didn't know this before I purchased. It should help speed notifications and lower bandwidth requirements to Google's cloud servers. Side Notes - Magnetic mount also makes it easy to steal (so I purchased the $15 Wasserstein Anti-Theft Mount from Amazon to protect it) - I previously added a wireless repeater near the front of the house (for smart led bulbs for dusk-dawn automatic external lighting) so took advantage of that signal strength too. If your wireless devices have spotty WiFi connectivity, you might need to add one too. The Verdict I got the new Nest Camera more for the good points as they are so much more important to me than the bad (I know I put a bunch of bad points but they're not show stoppers). The camera works very well for me.

Fell Very Short of Expectations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this thinking it would be a good introduction into outdoor cameras and I was ultimately disappointed. The wireless on the camera is very dodgy. Going further away and having the same line of sight (same obstacles) for the wifi signal to passthrough I would lose connection as I got closer to the router. The picture quality was the exact same as the dropcam pro and that would make sense given they are both 1080p. I don't care for battery devices like this as they are expected to be treated as a disposable commodity once the battery is depleted enough to not hold a significant charge. I opted for the power cable and that seemed to work fine, but I wish Google would just give a hardwired option that isn't a floodlight. Setup was easy and took no time at all. No Nest app support sucks, but it isn't bad going through the Google Home app. For the price point it should have better video quality.

Posted .Hi Boonis, we appreciate you for letting us know the details of your feedback with the Nest Cam (Battery), and we’re sorry that it’s a disappointment for you.
You can adjust the video quality in settings to balance high resolution video with longer battery life and lower bandwidth use. For optimal video quality at 1080p, an internet connection upload speed with at least 2 Mbps per camera is recommended (DSL may not qualify). Please check the steps below:
- Open the Home app Google Home app.
- Select your camera.
- Tap Settings Video.
- Under “Video quality,” tap High.
Also, besides using a power cable or floodlight, the new Nest Cam (Battery) also has an ecosystem of accessories that allow users to put it on a table top surface, power it with PoE, or hook it to a solar panel.
We’ll make sure to share your feedback along with the right team to work on improving our products and services. Meanwhile, we’d like to learn more about how we can provide a better experience for you, and if you’re willing to get in touch with us, feel free to find us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Beautiful and solid quality
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s part of the Google Home ecosystem. Not Nest even though it says Nest. I knew this going into it and it doesn’t bother me. I prefer it since Nest will eventually get fully integrated into Google. My only downside was being able to hide the wires for the cam. I wanted to feed the cable through the base but it doesn’t let you because the power plug is under the cam. The magnet is strong and the battery life is okay. I plug it in right out of the box and it lasted me 2 weeks with default settings. Instead I purchased the charger cable and just have it plugged in all the time.

Google Nest Camera
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ended up getting the front porch ones wired and that was an extra cost to pay an electrician bc I live in an older house. Nice looking, But the battery life is not good.I think I’m going to sell and get a different camera system. I don’t like the fact that they are battery operated and The solar panels don’t really keep them charged in high traffic areas.

Posted .Hi there, MashaundaC. Sorry to hear you haven’t the best battery life on the Nest Cam (Battery). The lifespan of the battery will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and selected camera settings. On average here’s how long the battery will last on a single charge:
Busy - About 1 month battery life (about 25 - 30 recorded events per day)
Typical - About 2.5 months battery life (about 13 - 16 recorded events per day)
Quiet - About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)
Here’s a few tips to conserve battery:
1. Optimize its video quality.
2. Shorten the length of time for which events are recorded.
3. Take longer to begin recording between events.
