Good product overall. Easy install and use. Good price point. Respectable battery life and great motion detection. Included theft prevention wire seems flimsy, recommend purchasing after-market wire if you're concerned about theft of the device. Would recommend to anyone looking to start their home security array.

Integrated with older Nest/Google system very easily. Battery lasts several weeks (depending on the setting) before needing to charge. I have these in odd locations so hardwiring was not an option. I eventually added the solar charging panel and haven't had to take them down to charge since (even in sub-zero temps). Great clarity and wide field of view. Very reliable.

I like this camera. I am a professional in the security industry and find that it has a good return of investment. However the 2 drawbacks are if you want more than 3 hours of video archive, you have to pay a monthly subscription and if you don't want to have to recharge it every 4 weeks, you have to use the provided charging cable. Which defeats the idea of it being wireless.

Hi ScrewedinPHX, we're glad to hear you liked Nest Cam (Battery). We're sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with the battery and Nest Aware subscription.

We recommend getting the Nest Aware subscription, as it provides a lot of value for your money with features that include 30 days of Video History, 24/7 continuous recording, access to clips and time lapses and even customizing your own activity zones. You won't ever have to worry about missing any events as these videos and clips are all saved onto the Cloud. All these features can be viewed and controlled at the tip of your fingertip using the Google Home App.

The battery life for your Nest Cam (Battery), is affected by factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios:
Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20-25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9-12 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2-4 recorded events per day)

It's important to check the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. Solid camera with great picture quality. Integrates very well with Google Home. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the charging can be a pain sometimes. The charging pins have to be cleaned from time to time before charging or it won't begin to charge.

These cameras work fine under daytime conditions but don't show anything in the dark. For that purpose, you'd need to get ones with motion sensor lights or put your camera in a well-lit area. They cover a broad range. I added solar panels to keep them charged.

It’s a love hate relationship with Nest products. My home has Nest Thermostat, Protect smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and Nest wired and wireless cameras. Ever since being acquired by Google the products are glitchy and lesser in quality. Sometimes they will not connect or you’ll randomly get logged off and need to log into Google home again. These cameras do not use the Nest App. Instead you need a Google Home account. I run a half gig mesh network so I do not have Internet connectivity or speed issues. Since I have already invested so much in their products, it’s hard to start over and I just put up with their shortcomings. Definitely wait for their products to go on sale. They are not worth full price. The NestCam Outdoor has rechargeable batteries for flexible wireless mounting and operations. Depending on how often you view the camera or turns on due to motion, your battery life will vary. I get about a month on a charge. (Tip: use a portable battery pack to recharge so you don’t have to take the camera down) The better option is to keep the camera wired. Either with the included charging cable or a longer outdoor cable. This will ensure continuous power and allow live streaming. The basic free service only keeps 3 hours of history so it’s basically useless if you missed an alert or want to check what happened earlier. You’ll have to decide if it’s worth the premium for Nest Aware and the longer cloud history and continuous feed. These cameras do not produce good images. They’re actually pretty bad. Things are grainy and you won’t be able to make out a clock in the wall and most text. Low light makes the image even worst. The nighttime mode which you can set manually or automatically helps with dark settings. But it’s still grainy and the video is black and white. The problem is that Nest has to balance the free storage they provide and most homes Internet bandwidth so they must be purposely lowering the resolutions of the cameras. Camera technology is so inexpensive nowadays that you would expect razor sharp 1080p images where license plates are easily read. This is not the case with these Nest cameras. The performance is highly dependent on your internet speed, where you mount them, how much light is available and how far the objects are. Zooming in is even worst. At the end of the day you’ll have to balance price and convenience with performances. The Google Home interface kinda works. But I had to install and uninstall several times before I was able to add this camera. It really shouldn’t be this difficult. Buy with hesitation if you’re already in the Nest ecosystem and don’t want to start over. But there are probably better alternatives.

Hi Lovethecover, thanks for sending in your feedback on the battery life of your Nest Cam (battery). We're sorry to hear that your experience with the device didn't meet your expectations. I switched from an older Arlo camera to this new Next Cam Battery and it really wasn't an upgrade. The nest cam itself is pretty huge, far bigger the my arlo, so you would think the battery life would be better. But it isn't. So far it is dropping about 1% a day, which while that sounds ok, the Arlo is so much better. Then there are the notifications or lack of notifications I should say. With the Arlo I never missed anything it isn't field of view, the nest seems far, far less sensative and no amount of changing the settings has improved this. The real kicker seeing how this is a google product is that is doesnt' stream to other google products. The Arlo would show on my google TV when I asked google to show it, but this Google Nest camera can't do that. Overall this was not an upgrade from a 4-year-old Arlo camera. Arlo had better notifications, better battery and better integration with other google products.

They are good quality for wireless. Sometimes the feed won't pull up when you try to view it but usually backing out and opening it again fixes it. Also they do not like cold weather. It doesn't effect video quality just battery life.

Overall a well integrated Google product, seemless connectivity with Google home, which works on Apple and Android. After 11 months of usage, no issues with connectivity, was able access the camera remotely, even from otherside of planet , thanks to powerof Internet. Got two cameras, one is flickering in the night, looks like IR (infra red) module could be broken. Functinality in Day is good. Is battery powered, however needs charging, but also can take external power. So if you are planning for leaving long term 2 weeks or more, recommend buying external cable, costs extra. Also has magnetic bases, gives flexibility with installing on doors without additional tools. Pricing is on the higher side. I am hoping Google will replace my faulty camera whichisstillinwarranty, that is one of the reasons I bought this camera, my experience with Google with another claim was good. If you have a slightly higher budget and want Google backed product, i would go with this. Also for camera recordings, default free event history you only see last 3 hours of information, the monthly plan costs extra.
