The new generation of Nest cameras, including Nest Cam (Battery), is exclusively integrated into the Google Home app. Our aim was to create a centralized platform where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices using the Google Assistant. By using the Home app, you can enjoy several benefits, including automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification, and Security Checkup. Additionally, your Google Nest devices and services seamlessly work together, allowing you to say commands like "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera" to effortlessly cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup. The Google Home app also offers the convenience of signing in with a single account for both the Nest and Google Home apps. Your homes and home members will be synchronized across both platforms. Also, the Nest Cam (battery) is designed with versatility since it’s an outdoor/indoor battery powered device. It can be used with a set of various power accessories including two weatherproof cables with power adapter (sold separately), of 16 ft and 33 ft in length. If you find it more convenient connecting to continuous power that will keep the battery charged, which is required to get 24/7 video history if you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription, we suggest using the weatherproof cable since the included power adapter is not intended for outdoor use.

We’re also focused on giving our customers value for the price, including three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription.

If you still have to charge the battery more often than you’d like, you might want to consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).
