Very dissapointed in this camera

I have metal siding, so I didn't have to drill any holes, the magnet is really strong, and holds well. I just had a series of storms come through my area and it fared well. It was easy to set up and looks great outside my house. Now, its time for the cold water; the battery is, as everyone has said, horrible. 2 days in and my camera was at 68% with 6 total events recorded between the 2 days... Google will try and tell you that battery life is based on many different factors, it is essentially their way of placing blame on you, that somehow its YOUR fault. not the case. I turned all recordings off, charged it to 100% and let it sit outside my home where temperatures in MN have been 75 on average. 3 days later it is sitting at 90% battery. Could I have gotten a faulty unit? Sure, anything that is mass produce will have some issues. But its left a bad taste in my mouth all the same. I don't know what I'm going to do at this point, but after al the hype, i'm not impressed

Besides the time between recorded events, battery life also depends on activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Below are some typical scenarios about the battery life:
Busy - About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
Typical - About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
Quiet - About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)

It took me awhile to figure out to reset them to a different router, luckily YouTube helps. I have one on a google cam stand the other mounted on the magnet mount. Feel very secured on the magnet mount.

However now that google has fragmented the nest ecosystem, those of us that have "older" nest products now have to live with two different platforms. If I want to see these cameras, i have to go to the home app. Other cameras, to the nest app. History in one, not the other. Alerts from nest app and sometimes the home app overlap. Its silly.

We bought them to monitor the dogs when they are in the yard. The clarity is great. The battery life is really good. They recharge quickly. They are completely wireless, so I can put them anywhere.

I had been keeping an eye out for a sale, but i never found one. Received a gift card for BB. These were easy to install, charge, and load onto my "Home". Hardware for multiple mounting situations. Batteries last approx 3-4 months depending on triggered recordings. I love being able to see my property at any time with these.

Battery life is poor

It is setup with the basic defaults and a maximum of 30 sec recordings. I get about 15 events a day so did not expect that to drain the battery so quickly.

We recommend changing the settings to save the battery by lowering the battery usage. You can also use the Battery Saver feature of the device. Also, connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter for continuous power will keep the battery charged.
