Easy setup, good cameras

The only downside is the temperature extremes in MN - we're a little curious how very cold (or very hot) temps will affect performance

Nest Cam (battery) can operate with temperatures from -4°F to 104F (-20°C - 40°C). For wired installation setups with a Nest Cam (battery), the wires power the camera directly. At temperatures below freezing, the battery won’t charge, but as long as the wired power source is available, the camera can operate in temperatures down to -4°F (-20°C).

Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)

Downgrade from Previous Nest Cams

These latest cams are NOT Nest Aware compatible so you only get a limited 3 hour history window before they delete recorded events. And no option to subscribe to a service that would allow longer storage (like Nest Aware). It neuters the entire purpose of security cameras. Why on earth would Google do this? They're missing out on revenue and already have the tech in place. As of this review date (summer 2024) the Google Home app is also pretty clunky and hard to set schedules and customize. The cameras are fine, but until they fix the software/app I would strongly recommend avoiding.

Night view not great but I have good coverage with this over my garage door and a nest doorbells front and back all for $6 a month nest aware subscription

Overall the camera is great, I just don't like the fact that Google has made a mess with the old Nest App and Google Home. They need to make up their minds on integrating all cameras be it from Nest or Google. It's a pain switching from Nest app and Google home. If you have older camera's, Google messed up on this integration for now and this was back in 8/24/2021 when I bought this and it is still a mess now.
