Audio is good too, except when your watching your stream in the same room. For some reason you get an audio feedback loop to the point it will start screeching. Cons: Video quality is not that great even if you update the settings. I used to have a smartthings camera and the video quality on that is much clearer. However, that camera will only record in ten second intervals since they updated the software and you miss a lot of valuable footage. -Orienting the camera can be a little difficult depending on how you want it placed due to the "stand" its on. And you can only rotate the view by 180. So depending how you want it placed, your video may be side-ways. -This will NOT work in the nest app. It only works in the google home app.

You can always adjust the camera settings like video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and use activity zones to monitor specific areas. For optimal video quality at 1080p, an internet connection upload speed with at least 2 Mbps per camera is recommended (DSL may not qualify).
If you need to mount your Google Nest camera on a ceiling or overhang, you can simply attach the wall plate with the included screws, then secure the magnetic plate onto the backplate, and the magnetic plate can firmly hold your camera in place. The included stand is ideal for simply placing your camera indoors on a shelf, desk or counter. Just plug in the power cord and adjust the camera so it points where you want. You can also mount it with the screws to a wall or other surface. Take precautions and securely mount your camera if you plan to install it more than 6.5 ft (2 m) above the ground. Then you can use the Home app to get the view you want, and adjust the video so that it's right side up. In many cases, you can simply turn or twist the camera. If that’s not possible, you can flip the video 180 degrees with the Home app.

We chose to transition to the Home app because this app is designed for the future of the smart home, a single place to set up, manage, automate, and control your home. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

Never lose connection and the night vision is perfect. We are looking forward to buying additional cameras for the rest of the home.

The installation was very simple and easy and the setup is even better. The video and audio quality are fantastic and this is a perfect camera for home security! Don't waste time or money buying another camera, this one is the one to get!

Good camera if youre in the Google ecosystem

Adsing this and the Doorbell camera have been freat additions. I replaced a $25 Yi camera with this. I love that i dont have to pay for a monthly subscription if I don’t need it, but the camera is still bery useful. It covers my entire living room, dinning room and front door. If i speak theought it, i can be headd clearly. I can view it on my Google displays, or in the Google Home app on my iphone, Android or iPads (I have a lot of devices). I would definitely recommend. I had one glitch where i couldnonly see a white screen on my phone, but audio was working. I unplugged the can, plugged it back ij and it started working again. I also have Google Fiber for internet, so everything just works really well together.

The cam has an extra long wire if you need to attach it anywhere high to get a better view of the room you put it in. The only time it's ever turned off is during a power outage.

Good Camera, Very Limited on AI Saved Footage

Good picture quality in light or dark conditions. Easy to set up. Unobtrusive. My only complaint is with the software. You aren't able to just review a few days worth of footage from start to finish. The only footage that saves are clips the camera deems worthy of note. So I'll get a save clip of something, but I'm not able to back up to a minute before the camera decided something interesting was going on, nor am I able to continue with the footage past when the camera decides nothing else interesting happened. Considering you have to pay for the service to save footage at all, they need to make it more flexible and not expect you to just be satisfied with whatever the AI decides is worth watching.

The Nest Cam (indoor, wired) has a basic sound and motion feature that is designed to analyze its video data for people, animals, and moving vehicles, and can recognize when the same people reappear. To detect anything besides a person, animal, or moving vehicle, the camera checks for general motion in the scene. It learns what’s normally in its background view and looks for movement and changes. As a result, it can sometimes trigger not just for important things, but also for minor things like tree branches that sway in the wind. If you only need your camera to detect people, animals, or moving vehicles, it's recommended that you do not turn on this feature.
To change detection settings:
- Open the Google Home app .
- Tap your camera or doorbell.
- Tap Settings > Event.

Then I moved it to watch my smoker while at my desk to make sure everything was in order. Now it's floating around the house for misc purposes. It seems that I may need another one for the garage now.

Only 3 hours free otherwise I hear you have to pay, so if I am gone 2 hours I quickly preview what's happened and delete that 2 hours thus leaving me 3 hours free ahain. Plus I delete the history once home and all is fine. Complaints are bad feedback microphone speaker noise when I walk in the room and still have the app open. I usually have to turn the camera off via the app before entering witch I shouldn't have to. App can be confusing to remember where to find some of the features perhaps after I use it enough I will remember.

All are working well with Google Home app and setup was straight forward. I feel more secure for them with live feed and do quality video call sometimes with them.

That said, I am NOT a fan of the Google app that you're forced to use. Terrible format, horrible user interface. Surprising Google hasn't figured this out yet and upgraded - if you're a Nest user, their app was incredible.

In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams.
