The new Nest Cam (indoor, wired) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. We chose to transition to the Home app because this app is designed for the future of the smart home, a single place to set up, manage, automate, and control your home. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams.

This allows me to monitor inside my garage (and also ensure that I have the garage door closed). Since I installed from the ceiling my image was flipped. When you are setting up the camera in the app you can flip it so that it appears normal. The camera also allows you to talk through it as well which is nice. The audio quality (ability to listen to others from the camera) is difficult at times.

If you haven’t yet, you can follow the steps below that might improve the camera’s volume:
- Open the Home app .
- On the home screen, select your camera.
- Tap Settings .
- Select Audio.
- Under “Camera volume,” drag the slider left or right to adjust the volume of your camera.
