Great Camera Despite Annoying Changes

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It’s disappointing that Google doesn’t allow these new cameras to integrate into the standalone Nest App like the previous generations. If you have a mix you can only view these cams in the Google Home App. That said, video quality and field of view are top notch for the price point and installation is a breeze.

Posted .Hi there joshgifford, it's unfortunate to hear about your disappointment with the move we made to the Google Home app for the new generations of Nest cameras and doorbells, including Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired).
We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant, hence the reason for the move to the Google Home app. If you already have some Nest cameras installed in your home, you may transfer them to the Google Home app. Here´s a guide that you can follow: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

Looks and feels great. Image quality is solid, but you may see issues with staying connected. Home app requied and isnt able to be seen in the Nest app. Which is a shame as the controls in the Google home app are trash.

Here are some recommended steps you can try out and see if it might be helpful with the connectivity issues:
- Check for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
- Check for possible sources of interference such as the thick walls and appliances in your home.
We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
- Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
