      Hello Nest user, we’re grateful for your feedback, and we hear your concern about the data usage of Nest Cam (indoor, wired).

      When you pick video quality and bandwidth settings, you set the maximum video quality for your camera. Your camera will automatically adjust video resolution and compression according to how much bandwidth is available. You only use download bandwidth when you watch video in the app over Wi-Fi. This typically requires the same amount of bandwidth it takes to upload the video. Your camera also uses a small amount of bandwidth to download software updates and other information from the Nest service. If you need your camera to use less data over the course of a month, you can try some of the things below:

      - Lower the video quality and bandwidth settings so that your camera won't use as much data to upload video to the cloud.
      - Use Home & Away Routines (Home app) or Home/Away Assist (Nest app) to turn your camera on and off automatically. This is especially useful if your camera has 24/7 video history, so that it doesn't constantly upload video to the Nest service.
      - Some camera and doorbell models can also use camera schedules to turn on and off automatically to help reduce the amount of data used. Please note that It's not recommended to stream camera video with a mobile hotspot.

    Good for the kids room. We're able to keep an eye on the kids and talk them from wherever we are if need. Sometimes it randomly disconnects from Google Home and I have to reconnect in the app. Only thing I really dont like is that you can't stream video from the camera; not compatible with the latest Chromecast with Google TV.

      For connectivity issues, you can check the following:
      - Check the location and distance of Nest Cam (indoor,wired). Make sure the device is within the recommended distance (15-20 ft.) away from the router.
      - Check for possible sources of interference such as microwave ovens, refrigerator or other devices in your home that may weaken Wi-Fi signals.
      - If you have a dual band router, try setting up your device on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more stable.
      - Outdated phone and Google Home app.

We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on bringing full functionality to the Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users like you with previous versions of Nest cameras can view your camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

    I like this camera, went away for a weekend and it was a nice way of watching my my cats while i was away!

      Hi Tanuj, we appreciate your insights on Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired). We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the video quality, and the move to the Google Home app.

      Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired) comes with a 2-megapixel color sensor that has HDR support, and can record up to 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution at 30 frames/sec. However, if you see a lesser video quality than what is prescribed, we recommend checking for possible congestion in your network, or that your bandwidth may not be sufficient. Removing some of your connected devices may help relieve some bandwidth space, and you may check if you still experience any drop with the video quality. Verifying congestion may require you to contact your Internet service provider to check your connection and upgrade it if needed.

    Not worth the upgrade, wish I could return

    I have an older Dropcam Pro that was starting to have issues connecting to Wi-Fi, so I bought this as a replacement for that. While the design of the camera is nice, the image quality is so so (no difference from my Dropcam Pro), and there are many downsides: -you have to use the Google home app, which is much more limited than the Nest App -unable to use my existing Nest Aware subscription with this camera. I have Nest Aware Gen 1 which records 24/7 and I only have one Nest cam at my house, and this can’t be transferred to the new camera.

    I have an older Nest hub which I was told would work just fine with the newer cameras. THEY DID NOT. The newer hub won't work at all unless you give it full permission to have full control of your computer as in letting it read, write, delete your emails and view all your phots, messages, and it sounds like I said before, take control of your computer. Thank you government.
