Hi Henrybrenton, thanks for being heavily invested, and for being a longtime user of Nest devices. We appreciate your feedback on Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired), and are sorry that it didn’t meet your expectations.

We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app and web app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We chose to transition to the Home app because this app is designed for the future of the smart home, a single place to set up, manage, automate, and control your home. Most home devices are controlled across multiple apps, but we’re working on making the Google Home app the central controller across all your home devices, including Google devices and devices from other brands.

Using the Google Home app provides you with a lot of benefits including access to Google's trusted security platform and access to other Google tools. Here are other benefits you can also get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam:
- Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- If you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
- Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

Other than making the Google Home app, the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant, we also wanted to showcase the rich features you can get with it. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Wired):
- Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
- Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

Hey there, Mt4852. We’re sorry to hear you’re having problems with video quality on your Nest Cam (Indoor, wired). Here are steps to make sure you’re getting the maximum quality:

1. Open the Home app
2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
3. At the top right, tap Settings.
4. Choose Video.
5. Under “Video quality,” choose Max or High. High settings use less bandwidth. Max settings use more bandwidth.

Hi Kaibil, thanks for letting us know of your feedback about the Nest Cam (Wired), and we’re sorry to hear that using the Google Home app is not ideal for you.

We wanted to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, and Google Assistant. It offers you a lot more benefits since you have access to Google´s security features as well. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. And while the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

Hi Soso, thanks for sharing your feedback to let us know of your issues with the Nest Cam (indoor, wired), and we’re sorry to hear that it didn’t meet your expectations.

You can customize the notification settings based on what you want to get alerts on. Use the Home app to control your camera for steps on how to enable notifications for your camera, or change which kinds of alerts you get. Audio settings let you turn the microphone on or off, or enable audio recording so you can hear people on the live video stream, and sound will be saved in video history. You can also change the volume for select cameras and doorbells. You can turn the audio recording on or off.

Here’s what to expect when you turn audio recording off for your camera:
- Audio will not be saved with your camera’s recorded video. This means that any footage saved in your video history while audio recording was turned off will not have sound.
- You’ll still be able to get audio in your camera’s live video stream.
- The app will not send you any sound alerts.

Also, with a Nest Aware subscription, your Nest camera’s sound and motion detection receives improvements with more accurate alerts for sound and motion. Nest Aware algorithms measure ambient audio levels and filter out any regular noise in the area (like a running air conditioner). That way, sound detection can notice fluctuations in noise and determine if an important audio event has occurred, like a boom or the crash of a window breaking. Nest cameras can pick out specific types of sounds and alert you when a sound occurs. For example, you can set up notifications for your camera to send an alert when a dog barks or a person speaks, but not to bother you when it senses other noises. Sound detection is also upgraded to be more sensitive, so normal conversation is picked up as an activity event.

Hello there, VictorWhiskey. We appreciate your feedback on Nest Cam (indoor, wired). This device is one of the new versions of Nest cameras. We’re continuing to support the Nest cameras, as well as to deliver critical security updates and software fixes and owners like you shouldn’t notice any difference with your service. However, we made the difficult decision to stop support for Nest Secure and Dropcams starting April 8, 2024. We will also officially end Works with Nest as of September 29, 2023.
