Placing the camera a bit closer to your Wi-Fi router can improve its performance and connectivity. Although the camera passed the connection test during setup, it will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away from your router. If you're experiencing a spotty connection or weak signal, we recommend checking your Wi-Fi network to see if your bandwidth is congested, which happens if you have too many devices connected on the same bandwidth or if your network package is not enough to handle the data traffic on the network. Removing other connected devices to your Wi-Fi may relieve network congestion.

We remain committed on delivering quality products and giving value for the price to our customers, including three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. While there's no fee to stream full resolution live video and receive basic notifications, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to get advanced features. You can always adjust the camera settings like video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and use activity zones to monitor specific areas. For optimal video quality at 1080p, an internet connection upload speed with at least 2 Mbps per camera is recommended (DSL may not qualify).

If you need to mount your Google Nest camera on a ceiling or overhang, you can simply attach the wall plate with the included screws, then secure the magnetic plate onto the backplate, and the magnetic plate can firmly hold your camera in place. The included stand is ideal for simply placing your camera indoors on a shelf, desk or counter. Just plug in the power cord and adjust the camera so it points where you want. You can also mount it with the screws to a wall or other surface. Take precautions and securely mount your camera if you plan to install it more than 6.5 ft (2 m) above the ground. Then you can use the Home app to get the view you want, and adjust the video so that it's right side up. In many cases, you can simply turn or twist the camera. If that’s not possible, you can flip the video 180 degrees with the Home app.

We understand that long time Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app and web app, however, our priority with this launch was to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays, and to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. We chose to transition to the Home app because this app is designed for the future of the smart home, a single place to set up, manage, automate, and control your home. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

The issue may be related to a power issue. We recommend plugging your camera into a different power outlet and checking if it turns on. If your camera works with the new outlet without turning off again, you might have to move your camera or contact an electrician to fix the outlet. However, if power is on for your home but your camera doesn't seem to work in any outlet, the power cable might have an issue. Replace the cable and check whether your camera works. Finally, if none of the recommended steps work and the issue persists, please do not hesitate to reach out to our support team.
