An excellent and affordable security option

The camera quality is excellent with very little lag, nightvision enables quickly as lights dim and brighten, and the audio pick-up and mic are fantastic!

I don't have to get up all night to check on him. I just watch the camera and make sure he is comfortably sleeping. I highly recommend inside the home to keep an eye on the elderly if you are in a different part of the house.

Much Better than Older Nest Cams

I like this one because it is wired. We have Google Mesh, no issues at all with set up or network connections.

A range issue or wireless interference can cause your camera to disconnect from your Wi-Fi. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away. You may also check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the camera and your router as these items could block the connection. Great product, terrible software

Owned for 4 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although these new Nest Cam themselves are great (good video quality and nice product materials) the Google Home service itself is a mess. I have the old Nest camera products as well as these new Google Nest cameras. The older Nest cameras still work on the Nest app, which is MUCH better at handling the security footage compared to the Google Home app. The problem with the Google Home app is that you can't playback footage that has just been recorded - you have to wait several minutes before it's accessible. This completely defeats the purpose of these cameras as security cameras when you want to see the footage from the notification you just received. Also just scrubbing through footage is noticeably worse on the Google Home app compared to the Nest app. These new Google Nest cameras may be great products themselves, but the software interface makes this just a "meh" product. The fact that we are no longer able to add these new cameras to the old Nest app (that still works perfectly, especially compared to the Google Home interface) just ruins it. Alphabet needs to make their Google Home app as comprehensive and functional as the Nest app before I can recommend these cameras to anyone. Live view works great, but trying to playback anything is going to be problematic.

The new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. And you can view both your old and new Nest Cams together in the Home app.
We request for your patience as we’re working on a seamless solution to create a better user experience. And we suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view for cameras set up in the Google Home app.

I have the Nest app and have 2 cameras (from 2017) that still work great. I thought since it’s a 2nd generation that I could use Google Home app to set it up. Not so. I get the message that I have to migrate my Nest account. Birds migrate. Butterflies migrate. Now my app migrates too. What does that really mean in laymen’s talk not IT talk. I don’t want to lose what I see in my Nest app so I haven’t set up this camera yet.

I am guessing it’s more of a problem with my wifi but still cannot figure it out.

Easy setup and connection. Had everything running in just a few minutes. Would not suggest letting Best Buy deliver via Shipt. Shipt is AWEFUL. Said it would be delivered on Tuesday, didn't get delivered until Wednesday. Tracking kept showing picked up and on its way. I would have been better off to pick up at the store.
