Extremely easy to setup, high quality picture and I love the way Google tracks events that occur when recognized. I know exactly when anyone is heading up our driveway and this camera pretty much covers the entire front of the house.

It captured a stolen car being dumped out front as well. Definitely recommend this item for safety and security. Also, get the Nest Aware subscription so you can go back and look at videos.

The device feels really well built and image quality is above average. Downside is you will need to pay if you want long term storage and other features. No option for local storage. You can download clips into your personal device through the home app.

I did get some good free geek squad help though. The camera seems to be working right now, but I will likely have to figure out some of the other features.

The facial and pet recognition is amazing! Great for setting on a shelf, or mantle, but I had issues with trying to mount it on the wall... i just couldn't get the head of the camera to orient in the direction i wanted, so it is on the fireplace mantle, which is actually just fine.

Perfect except having to use the google home app. We have two old legacy nest cams and they work fine with the old app. I wish google would integrate the features of the nest app to google home.

We wanted to make the Google Home app the one place where you can control all your favorite Google Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
- Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, """"Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.

Nice camera, but not the original

You would think it would be backwards compatible but it's not. Google is trying to force us into using Google home which is not as user friendly as the nest app.

The new Nest Cam (indoor, wired) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

Works for most uses

We have it installed in a vacation home and connected to the Google Home Hub. Lets me see what's going on inside the house. We don't have it connected to a "security system" or anything like that. But with the Google Home app I can see if anything is going on in the house. The picture is fine
