Wired, only for power. 2nd gen. google Nest CAM can be mounted or placed anywhere your home or work Wi-Fi signal is available. The power cube needs to be plugged into 110 VAC, but the camera itself is wireless. So I can add it to the garage without running wires to the house to a recorder. Perfect! And it works with faster routers. Indoors, you can place it anywhere, on a desktop, dresser, table top or mount it to the wall or ceiling as your needs require. The base twists on conveniently and hides the mounting hardware. The power cord is plenty long, enough for my needs. The white camera housing blends in with most all surroundings. Adding the device to my google HOME app was simple. Creating active zones helps preclude false triggers from areas I don't need to be concerned within the cameras field of view. Since the base swivels 180-degrees, aiming the shot is effortless. Next I decided what I wanted to report to my cellphone when away or at home. The camera has built in smart hardware so the scanned faces never leave the unit. How's that for privacy? Face recognition is nice so I now when family or friends arrive. If you choose, it knows you are home and doesn't record (another nod to privacy). I can view the front door camera from my google Nest HUB. Included is 3-hour time slice of recorded video with no subscriptions. The available subscription provides options like 10-day 24/7 recording, 60-days or event history recording, and others. Pay for what you need and don't worry about extra hardware to take care of. If the Wi-Fi is down, 1-hour of video can be stored in the camera until the signal and network return. Searching the history can be filtered by event type. No extra fees for intelligent alerts, which many will appreciate for a camera under $100.00.

Super easy setup with GOOGLE HOME app... great picture and sound quality for remote viewing. The facial and pet recognition is amazing! Great for setting on a shelf, or mantle, but I had issues with trying to mount it on the wall... i just couldn't get the head of the camera to orient in the direction i wanted, so it is on the fireplace mantle, which is actually just fine.

I have multiple Nest cameras around my house, and this was my first of the next generation. Easy to setup and add to your environment, great night shot ability and clear picture to boot. It is a bit disappointing that it does not integrate into the existing Nest Aware infrastructure so using the Nest App doesn't integrate this camera. Google Home is used instead. The adjustability when mounting directly to a wall is also lacking, I ended up buying a wall mount that provided more directions of freedom in adjustment.

Hi there, MichaelT. Thank you for being a loyal advocate of our Google Nest cameras. We appreciate that you had an easy time setting up your Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired) and that you liked the image quality. However, we understand your disappointment with the move to the Home app.

We wanted to create the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired):
      - Automatic security protections. The Home app offers features like suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification, and Security Checkup to enhance your security.
      - Seamless device integration. Your Google Nest devices and services will work together efficiently. For instance, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, you can simply say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera" to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - Simplified account management. You can use one account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps, making the user experience more streamlined.
      - Consistent settings. Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps, providing you with a more cohesive and coherent user experience.
      - You may set up your older Nest cameras to the Google Home app. Check out this help article to learn more: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

Our support team would be delighted to answer them and ensure that you have a worthwhile experience throughout the process. Perfect to supervise my kids while they stay alone at home as I work. Easy to talk to them without waiting until one of them picks a phone or anything. Just talking straight out to them on the cam, we can choose together their dinner so I buy it and send it to them. No more rush from farmlands to the city and I know they won´t have upside down the house when I arrive after work. It setups in minutes with Nest Hub scanning the QR provided with the cam. Use it with Google Home on your phone. Is a great pairing, google tv, cams, lights, air conditioner, all together. I can manage temperature as kids always want colder. And I see them when doing so. So I can see who is guilty of charges all the time.

There isn't a Nest App for it, or rather, it looped me around in circles to add it to the app devices, but even then, I believe it's stating to use the Google Home app for usage. I had used the device before, and because of the experience, I decided to get another. The quality is as expected, clear and all is visible. But I am not sure if it's the app or the device, whenever I try to operate it; it makes this high pitch ringing sound from the app that I have to turn it off from annoyance.

Great overall camera, would recommend. Easy to setup but strong wifi is a must. Reconnecting to a new wifi can be annoying but overall 8/10 camera. Picture is great during the day but does need some light at night if the camera is looking out a front door window etc. I think a mix of outdoor and this indoor cam would be perfect. Find what your needs will be before purchasing. 30 day recording history is also $8 a month..... keep in mind.

The Google Nest Cam was a great addition to my smart home setup. Unboxing and setting up the camera was a breeze with the included instructions and Google Home app setup they quickly guided me and had me setup within just a few minutes. The camera does have some heft to it but it comes with mounting hardware if you want it up on a wall or someplace not flat. You can setup "Activity Zones" that make it so the camera is only looking in those areas for movement to alert you or you can just have it look everywhere. You can also set it up to only record when you're not home just so you can keep tabs on what is going on when you aren't there. There is an optional subscription service that will give you more recording options. You get a running 3 hours of video recording which should be sufficient when you're trying to go back to a recorded event. The camera does allow for 2 way communication and the delay is not that bad so you can also use it like an intercom system for your setup so it facilitates communication. Overall I'm very happy with the Google Nest Cam and it already helped me capture an intruder in my kitchen! It was me :)

I already had the Nest doorbell camera, and I was looking for an accompanying indoor camera to keep an eye on my dog when I wasn’t home. I chose the Google Nest wired indoor camera to fit my needs. The first task I had to do was migrate my Nest doorbell camera to my Google account, since the Nest account does not accommodate the Google indoor camera. Once the accounts were merged, the process of adding the Google Nest camera was very easy. Using your smart phone’s camera to capture the smart label on the camera identifies all the information needed by the app to begin the setup process. Within five minutes and after accepting the google user agreements and naming the camera you’re up and running. The camera gives you the option to mount the camera on a wall or the ceiling or use the camera’s stand to place it on a flat surface. For my application I chose to place it in a cabinet to keep it out of site. The app gives you three hour history look back and Google-Nest have plans for you to capture longer history from the camera. All in all this is a very good indoor camera for keeping an eye on your home while you are away.

I like this new wired nest cam, the alert via Google home is nice you can pick what alerts you whether person animal whatever. The video and audio are super clear, I decided to set this atop my kitchen cabinets. Setup is simple via the home app, took about 5 minutes to complete. I like that this is hardwired as I hate to charge batteries. I like that we can ask our Google displays to show the camera footage. This is replacing my old logitech circle indoor/outdoor cam, which was me, and dropped wifi connection often. I definitely recommend giving this camera a try. The included 3 hour footage is nice, I won't be subscribing to the extra cost Nest aware.

I purchased this Nest camera to install in my basement so I could watch my young children playing in the play area while working upstairs. It was worked very well and was very simple to set up and start using. I can easily pull up the video feed on my smart phone or from the Nest Hub that I purchased as well. The field of view on this camera is very wide and I'm able to clearly see the entire area. I would definitely purchase another one if I need another area covered.

If you're already part of the Google/Nest Home ecosystem, then this is definitely the camera for you. I have two properties that I monitor, 500 miles apart. I previously used Arlo battery-powered cameras connected to solar panels. Both cameras suffered the same hardware failure after less than two years of service and I replaced them with these. What a difference. I changed the monitoring location to a more sheltered area where these camera could be plugged into AC mains all the time (as they must be). That solved all the environmental problems I used to have with the Arlos' batteries being either too hot or too cold to charge properly. That also solved the problem of having to do hard resets with battery pulls. I also experienced a 7-second-plus lag when monitoring the Arlo cameras, both locally and at the remote location. With these Nest cameras, it's less than a second, effectively negligible. The video quality is superb. The data throughput is peerless. And finally, the facial, object and motion recognition is both more accurate and less prone to false notifications. You can designate familiar faces, so that you don't have to check the video feed every time you get an alert. You simply get an alert that says "Your annoying neighbor Cletus detected on Front Door camera." (Don't have to check the feed.) Or, "unfamiliar face detected." (DO have to check the feed.) In short, a tremendously reliable, fast, useful camera. Highly recommended.

The best camera is great but the only reason I gave it one star less is because of app. I have all other Nest products I can view right on Nest app which can also be viewed in Home app however for this particular product, it can only be viewed in Home app ONLY! I wasn't happy when I found out. Unfortunately and bad design decision.

Hey there, Mental. Thanks for the feedback you shared and we appreciate that you find the Nest Cam (indoor, wired) the best camera. We hear your concerns about viewing your camera feeds, and we’re aware that longtime Nest users like you enjoy viewing the camera videos using the Nest app. However, our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices along with Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras, like you, can view your camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

Your feedback helps us identify areas we can work on, and this will definitely reach our products team for future improvements. And for support concerns that need our attention, here’s where you’ll find our support team for assistance: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Far better than Ring, but horrible setup process

Years ago, I started off with Ring cameras, but after upgrading one camera to Google Nest, I had to upgrade them all. The quality of the motion detection is far superior, but the setup process is horrible. The nest devices do not support 5GHz Wi-Fi and to get them to connect, after wasting a couple frustrating hours and starting over and over, I found that temporarily disabling 5GHz during setup resolved this. The worst part is that google support only provides useless fake/canned responses. They are so obviously canned auto-responses as they repeat your question in their useless response and do not answer the question and mark the topic as closed so that you cannot even follow up. Also, they still rely on BOTH the nest app and the home app to get multiple devices to work together, and you cannot find this anywhere in their documentation. They are far better than Ring, but they have a long way to go a leave a lot to be desired.

I approve of the build quality of google hardware and this camera is no exception. Looks and feels great. Image quality is solid, but you may see issues with staying connected. Home app requied and isnt able to be seen in the Nest app. Which is a shame as the controls in the Google home app are trash.

Hi Bork, it's great to hear that you're liking the build quality, hardware, design and image quality of Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired). However, we're sorry if you're experiencing connectivity issues and that the Google Home app didn't quite meet your expectations.

Here are some recommended steps you can try out and see if it might be helpful with the connectivity issues:
      - Check for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
      - Check for possible sources of interference such as the thick walls and appliances in your home.

We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, """"Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - If you're willing, you may set up your Nest cameras to the Google Home app. Check out this help article: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532
