I also get the notice of activity when sunlight suddenly shines in the window (like when a cloud moves or something). I get notifications and I can't see that anything happened. The biggest disappointment for me is the subscription required to store video.

The app needs a lot of work with the delays on this camera and they don't seem interested in fixing as it has been like this for a couple of years. Look elsewhere for cheaper, more capable cameras.

There may be a couple of reasons that would cause the video delays for your Nest camera. Here are some helpful steps that we recommend you to try:
1. If you have a lot of open apps on your phone, they can slow down its overall performance. Try closing some apps, including the Nest app, and then re-open only the Nest app to view your video.
2. If the delay is 10 seconds or more and it happens after you’ve been watching video in the Nest app for a long time, reload your camera’s feed: navigate back to the Nest app’s home screen and tap on your camera again to refresh the connection.
3. The video can be delayed if your camera, phone, tablet or computer is connected to a Wi-Fi extender, which adds extra relay time to any device that’s using it. If you’re using an extender in your home, connect your camera directly to your Wi-Fi router to help reduce the delay:
a. from the Nest app home screen, tap Settings
b. then select Home info and
c. then choose Home Wi-Fi help and then
d. Select your camera and then Update settings.
e. Be sure to pick your Wi-Fi router and not the extender.

Great camera, ridiculous Friendly Faces limitation

It’s completely disabled in IL. There isn’t even an option to enable it with a warning. Absolutely ridiculous, hence the lower rating. Google/Nest have forced a handicap onto the camera which should be at the discretion of the user. If you live in IL, you’re better off buying the cheaper indoor camera (black). If you live outside of IL, it’s probably worth it.

It now flashes in my baby’s room to keep him awake! Babysitters (we caught one endangering our babies life multiple times in one evening even when she knew we were recording her!) know when they’re not being recorded! Thief’s now know when my front and rear door cameras are on and when it’s not. Can I get a full refund for my 4 cameras and 3 subscriptions please?

So far, two of the 4 cameras I own have failed within 6 to 8 months of ownership. To top it off, Tech Giant Google pits very stringent time frames abs conditions for warranty replacement. If you are considering a camera system, you may want to look into Ring.
