Push to talk then push again to listen slow, by the time you push to stop talking the other person has already replied and you missed it. I have KASA cameras and for free I can review recorded videos at least two weeks in the past, no fee and download as well. So I don’t think I will pay the $6.00 a month for that service.

We recommend you to try some steps below for the delays you highlighted:
1. If you have a lot of open apps on your phone, they can slow down its overall performance. Try closing some apps, including the Nest app, and then re-open only the Nest app to view your video.
2. If the delay is 10 seconds or more and it happens after you’ve been watching video in the Nest app for a long time, re-load your camera’s feed: navigate back to the Nest app’s home screen and tap on your camera again to refresh the connection.
3. The video can be delayed if your camera, phone, tablet or computer is connected to a Wi-Fi extender, which adds extra relay time to any device that’s using it. If you’re using an extender in your home, connect your camera directly to your Wi-Fi router to help reduce the delay:
- from the Nest app home screen, tap Settings
- then select Home info and
- then choose Home Wi-Fi help and then
- Select your camera and then Update settings.
- Be sure to pick your Wi-Fi router and not the extender.
We also suggest making sure your Wi-Fi network has sufficient bandwidth to accommodate the data transfer from your Nest camera. A minimum of 2Mbps network bandwidth is needed for an effective streaming experience.

About 30 seconds after it happened. Meanwhile, my little home made ip camera system has a less than 1 second delay and the exact same image quality. This was supposed to be an upgrade, but with the delay it was a significant downgrade. I don't want to pay a premium to watch a video of somebody breaking into my house while that person is standing next to me stabbing me. I have the fastest residential internet I can reasonably buy from my isp. Maybe it's still not fast enough at 200 mbps, but it has handled everything else I throw at it just fine.

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know things are not always perfect, but when someone tries to break into your home and the camera doesn't detect the person's motion from 10-15ft in front of it, it's sad (for the cost and what's advertised). When a camera doesn't detect or alert you for simple things, like a person going back and forth while cutting the lawn, its sad. Situations like this when it doesn't detect the people that aren't being sneaky (in my case, and the person that was sneaky) happens all too often smh. Those are my experiences with this camera, to me it lacks, motion detection and alerts/notifications. I thought this would give me some kind of peace of mind, but not at all reliable enough to do so. But I will say the video quality is excellent, even at night.

We'd like to know more on why your Nest Cam Outdoor wasn't able to detect this activity, so that we can help accordingly. In the meantime, we can suggest the steps below to make sure the issue wasn't due to external factors:
- Clean the lens with a soft cloth that’s made for cleaning optics. Dust, thumbprints, and dirt can cause poor image quality.
- Turn your camera so that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view.
- Use the Nest app to zoom and enhance and crop out surfaces or objects that may be causing glare.
- If you see a bright white shape along the edge while everything else is too dark, there might be a surface that’s too close in your camera’s view (like a wall). Angle your camera so the surface stays out of view.
- Move nearby objects that may be reflecting the infrared light.
