Excellent camera and floodlight

The floodlight motion detector has a wide field of detection (wider than the camera), and works well. The floodlight is bright. Needs to install into an existing floodlight electrical box. If you have your floodlight attached to a switch, consider getting a switch cover to avoid accidentally turning off the light. The camera is battery powered and will record even without power to the light.

It did take half a day or so for it to be recognized in my Nest Aware subscription, and for the zone setup feature to show in the Home app. Until I could create a zone, it drove me nuts with alerts. Now it works exactly like I want. I think I'll get another.

It's also a great way to entertain yourself by watching funny videos of people trying to sneak into your yard. I've had my Nest Cam for a few weeks now, and I've already seen some hilarious stuff. Like the time the raccoon tried to climb up my fence, but fell off and knocked himself out. Or the time the deer got stuck in my bushes and had to be rescued by the fire department. But the best part about the Nest Cam is that it's always there to protect your home. Even when you're not. So if someone tries to break into your house while you're away, the Nest Cam will catch them on camera and send you a notification to your phone. So if you're looking for a way to keep your home safe and secure, and to have a few laughs along the way, I highly recommend the Nest Cam with Floodlight.

Still expensive even with the discount. The unit was easy to install and setup. I like the ability to adjust the light intensity. The unit works well and integrates nicely into the Google Home app.

The flood lights are very bright and pick up motion from a pretty good distance. Having this wired means not needing to recharge it like the other Google cameras I have installed. Definitely worth the premium!

Clear images & bright light. easy to use & looks modern like the doorbell. as a total tec member i got free install but it would be simple for the non tec members...i did my door bell because it wasn't free install at the time of purchase.

I feel much safer with it back there and being able to access the image from my phone within seconds, even though my yard is fenced in. A great piece of mind!

So glad that google came out with cameras that are directly connected because the whole running on the battery thing is not good yet. The only issue I have is that total tech does not get free installation even though every other google camera has it.

I do like the facial recognition feature so I can get notifications if one of my children go outside. Only downside is that it is expensive.

Google finally delivered, and it's an OK product. The camera is mounted to the floodlight with magnets and has a nice little locking screw to keep it from getting stolen which allows it to be really nicely adjustable for best camera views. It appears as 2 devices within Google Home app, a light and a camera with a nice amount of settings to customize. The only problem is that this camera isn't visible in the old Nest app. Any old Nest cameras are visible in Google Home app, but have 1/4 of the functionality compared to the Nest app. SO you must keep both apps. It's really the stupidest decision I've ever heard. Aside from that, I hope wherever you're installing it is a little higher than most people's reach because a locking screw doesn't really keep the camera from being stolen when there's a VISIBLE CABLE HANGING OFF OF THE CAMERA THAT CAN EASILY BE CUT!!

We’re sorry to learn of your disappointment with functionality of the Google Home app, and that the camera isn’t visible in the Nest app. We also understand the importance of securing the camera and floodlight on the wall to keep it from being stolen.
We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app and web app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We chose to transition to the Home app because this app is designed for the future of the smart home, a single place to set up, manage, automate, and control your home. And using the Google Home app provides you with a lot of benefits including access to Google's trusted security platform and access to other Google tools.
Here are other benefits you can also get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam:
- Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- If you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
- Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.
Nest Cam is more secure with features such as tamper detection and additional accessories such as tamper proof mounts. It can detect when Nest Cam battery is being tampered with, and will sound an alarm and alert the user when your device is removed from the mount, and is designed to provide peace of mind about potential device theft. Though the mounting plate can firmly hold the camera in place, you can secure the floodlight and the camera with the Anti-Theft screws. You can use the small screw to attach to the cover plate, and the large screw to attach to the floodlight. Then use the hex key to secure the screws in place. Your Nest camera can send an activity alert if it spots the vandal or thief, and you can also get a notification if it’s destroyed or taken out of range of your Wi-Fi network and goes offline. The email includes a snapshot of the last thing your camera saw.
