Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beware that after the free trials - if you don’t buy monthly plan - this is basically just a motion sensor light and a camera that will only show the live feed. It stores nothing, and they disable every feather of the camera including the zone you want covered with notifications. Of course, this happens right when the item cannot be returned. This is nothing but a ploy to force u to have the monthly coverage. I would never recommend any security feature from google.

We understand that long time Nest users, like you, enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. The new Nest Cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam with Floodlight:
- Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.

I bought it thinking I could use it with the Nest app, it’s way better than the Google app, and it doesn’t work with it. I had already installed it so I kept it. The light could not turn off after a couple of months of use so I had to reset the connection. Google app sucks when it comes to ease of use. Sadly is the only way you can use the camera

The new Nest Cam with Floodlight is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

Highly disappointing

The floodlights always come on as needed/wanted but not the camera. It also sucks that you have to use Google Home App rather than the Nest App because I have other cameras that use Nest. It is a much better app. I am very disappointed in this purchase.

If you're experiencing spotty connection or weak signal, we recommend checking your Wi-Fi network to see if your bandwidth is congested. This may happen if you have too many devices connected on the same bandwidth or if your network package is not enough to handle the data traffic on the network. Removing other connected devices to your Wi-Fi may relieve network congestion. If the issue persists, we recommend performing a factory reset on your camera. If you have a Nest Aware subscription, make sure to save any important clips before performing a factory reset. The setting option is also great. One thing it does not work with the nest app but the google home is just as great as the best app.

However, I have discovered that this statement is misleading. The camera does not save 3 hours of total video recording; instead, it only retains video recorded in the last 3 hours. I woke up in the morning and saw the activity notification in my backyard and no recorded video because it happened more than 3 hours ago. This is a huge scam. I was unaware of this limitation because I had an active subscription last year. However, I realized this after canceling my subscription this year. As a customer, I feel frustrated and deceived by this discrepancy.
