Happy with the Nest Cam with Floodlight!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've been really happy with our Google Nest Cam with Floodlight. The light and camera come on automatically when triggered by motion - and only by people. We have not seen it trigger when wildlife go by. It was very easy to install into an already-existing wired location above our garage. We can talk to people who are by the camera and can see them with the Google Home app. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

Great and well built
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the installation instructions were top notch as was the build quickly. Install into my old outdoor spotlight provided the electrical and perfect spot to mount. Mounting and grounding was relatively quick and painless. My biggest quibble is the recording limit of 3 hours without eventual subscription and no sd slot that I could locate. I also am leery about the -4F operating temperature as the Northeast can get well below that on some early morning winter days and nights. The picture quality is great but not compared to my 4K cameras.

Posted .Hi redderr, we're glad you liked our installation guide and build for Nest Cam with Floodlight. We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the limited 3 hour video recording.
For the best experience with Nest Cam with Floodlight, we recommend getting the new Nest Aware subscription, as it provides more value for your money with features that include 30 days of Video History, 24/7 continuous recording, access to clips and time lapses and even customizing your own activity zones. The best thing about this subscription is that it will include all your Google Nest devices under one subscription unlike before where you have to pay a monthly subscription for each device. If you already have some Nest cameras installed in your home, you may transfer them to the newer Nest Aware plan.

Peace of mind
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over the years I’ve had things that meant a lot to me disappear. So, after getting my RV I wanted to have a way to keep my belongings under some sort of surveillance. This is where the Google Nest Cam with Floodlight came into play. Right out of the well packaged box, this unit came with everything I needed to replace my old outdated floodlight. This system looks and feels well-built and was easy to install. Just make sure if you're a DIY that all power going to it is cut before installation. The install was super simple and straight forward and not unlike the install of any other floodlight. Once installed this is where it all the similarities to a standard flood light change. This is due to the integrated camera. The camera in this package is phenomenal, in my opinion it is on par with more expensive action cameras as far as captured video. The setup was as simple as downloading the app to your smartphone and following the instructions from there. The camera is held onto the floodlight via magnet and wire connected for power via a magnetic plug. Due to how the camera is held into place, this made it extremely easy to adjust the angle of its view. The performance of the nest camera system is outstanding. Its sensitivity to picking up movement is great and with my old system something as little as a bug would send me an alert, with this one I do not have that issue. I use this camera system specifically to keep watch over my RV and so far, it has given me a peace of mind. Because of the extreme light emitted by the floodlight, I have a clear view of my rig at night and whenever a person, or animal comes within view I instantly get an alert sent directly to my phone. The image and video quality of this system is high def and second to none! I'm very happy with this Google product. Not only does it look good it works flawlessly and is a great addition to any security system. I definitely recommend the Google Nest Cam and Floodlight.

Multiple units installed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought 3 of these and a camera without the lights. They are very sensitive to movement and start to record quickly. The cameras provide excellent viewing and the lights work very well. The Geek Squad linked them to our 3 Nest Home units and our new routers. All work seamlessly .

Floodlight camera that recognizes people
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found this floodlight camera very easy to install, but you need to have some basic wiring skills. I removed my old floodlight and installed this one in less than 30 minutes. You use the Google Home app to view the camera. It opens up quickly. I have ducks in my backyard and they don't set the camera off. If I walk in the backyard, it notifies me pretty quickly of my movements. My camera can pick up my neighbors yard in the edge of the field of view. When my neighbor mows their lawn, It picks them up. My only real complaint is that you can zoom in to try to see better, but the image isn't very good when zooming in. I like the fact that both the lights and camera are locked in place using an allen wrench. The lights have an allen screw that you put in place once the lights are mounted and then the camera has a power cord that has a tether that is mounted to the camera. Obviously it could be cut but it can't easily be just removed. My other outdoor cameras do not have any kind of theft protection. Other than the poor picture when zooming in, I'm pretty happy with the floodlights and the camera.

Great update if you’re replacing your floodlight
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review for Google - Nest Cam with Floodlight - Snow This is a sophisticated, hard-wired replacement for any outdoor floodlight if you want to add audio and video monitoring capabilities with serious intelligence that minimizes false alarms. It can recognize people, cars, animals, and even packages! Some of these features require one of the two-tier subscriptions, but right out of the box you get some seriously smart features! Up to three hours of events recording are free, without subscription—which will let you check back on things that trigger the camera for about a week. With subscriptions, you get much more history, but also additional intelligence, such as recognizing faces! You can program the time the lights remain on after being triggered by an event and set the sensitivity as well. You can program the brightness level of the lights, too. Installation is simple and straightforward if you have minimal tool skills. An intro video explains the install steps so you can see if your up to the task and then the app actually walks you through the install with simple steps and excellent illustrations. It’s good to know that you need a standard round electrical box to mount the floodlight, so plan to install one if your current setup is different. I think the “snow” white design looks crisp and modern, but it is also designed to be painted to match your house, if you like.

Posted .H AnthonyG, thanks for providing us feedback about the Nest Cam with Floodlight, and we’re sorry to hear you ran into these issues with one of your cameras going offline.
A range issue or wireless interference can affect the performance of your doorbell. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away. If you're experiencing a spotty connection or weak signal, we recommend checking your Wi-Fi network to see if your bandwidth is congested. This may happen if you have too many devices connected on the same bandwidth or if your network package is not enough to handle the data traffic on the network. Removing other connected devices to your Wi-Fi may relieve network congestion. If your doorbell is mounted too far from your Wi-Fi router, you may need to extend your Wi-Fi network’s range using an extender, boosters or additional Wi-Fi access points.

BLUESTACKS Download for the WIN!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love...Love...Love..Love these cameras. When you add with Nest...flawless...now here's the real reason I'm writing this review. IF..you want to access your computer with GOOGLE HOME..just like you do on your Apple or Android....I know.. I know...you think it's impossible....ahhhh...check this out....DOWNLOAD BLUESTACKS...then open Google Play..then search for Google Home...make sure you already have this account up and running and have already at least onetime signed in with your Google Account. I can now pull up all my video feeds and alerts and whatever else you want to do when you are bored.....doorbell...over garage..spotlight side of house...back yard and door.....all tied together seamlessly......and 6.00 bucks a month with Google Nest Cameras...if you use others and want whatever cool things they do....you PAY for that subscription separately......anyway...thought I'd help out some that may want this feature on their HOME Computer.....you can also buy the NEST HUB which will do the same thing.

Works well but mounts vertically
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to replace a light that roofers damaged. When I got it I did not realize that it was designed to be mounted to a vertical wall. Unfortunately all of my security lights are attached to angled eaves. While I was able to mount and aim the lights/base unit to illuminate the area I wanted lit, I was unable to get the camera aimed properly due to the length of the cable that attaches it to the base. The motion detector works but is aimed more upwards than outwards as intended and thus does not activate as quickly as it would if properly mounted. That being said, the camera/light functions as it should. The camera can't rotate enough to produce a vertical picture but I get a great picture rotated 90 degrees. The picture is great, day or night and despite the angle its clear what's going on. I love being able to Hey Google, turn on the courtyard light and having it come on. Next time my handy man comes by I will have him make a proper mounting spot on the wall. In the mean time I will enjoy the light as I mis-mounted it.

A great replacement for my floodlight and camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As the title states, this was exactly what I wanted in respect to replacing both my camera which runs on batteries and also replaces my floodlights. Like other google products I own, this was boxed extremely well. The snow or white color is nice, but it will not remain clean for very long! Especially on the install part. WIth the nest floodlight kit, this is meant to replace an existing floodlight you already have installed on your house. Let me repeat, this uses the older box to install the nest mounting plate for the install. There is NO option to use this on a new install without an existing box installed. You will need to call an electrician to install that if you do not know how. I would have needed to do that if I didn't have an existing floodlight to replace. The instructions for the install are actually best done through the google home app. FIRST OFF TURN OFF YOUR ELECTRICITY. Yes, you have not wired it and connected the camera initially, but you can get past that step and scan the QR code on the camera to get to the correct install instructions. For me the code brought me to the camera only and the camera with floodlight. Once I was able to get to these instructions, it was pretty clear in the install process EXCEPT for the screws included and which screws best fit where. Next was the mounting plate. Most have floodlights installed against a pillar or wall, mine was installed on top of the eve of my house so I needed to install this light vertically. Thank goodness they included a s-hook to easily hang to wire the new fixture to the house! However, my issue was the mounting bracket of the light. If you are mounting it against the wall, this would normally mean you are installing it parallel to the ground. This is where Google tells you to line up the lines with a leveler. In my case, I needed to figure out and determine the correct orientation of the motion sensor, lights and camera. The mounting bracket first needed to be mounted to the existing electrical box against the house. With this, you have to make sure you use the correct screws to do so. Make sure you use the 4 mounting ones! I figured this out the hard way. Now going back to the vertical mount in my case, I needed to affix my mounting plate to face towards where I want the camera to face. There are arrows to mount the plate to make sure you mount it correctly, just follow those instructions provided. The next part is to use the wire nuts to connect the corresponding wires and then tuck those back into the electrical box past the mount. Make sure you do this because the last part took the most time with me. You have to mount the light onto the plate, slightly turn counter clockwise and then press down and turn clockwise until it locks into place. THIS was absolutely the worst part of the install. It took me a good half an hour to mount it. Also once it's mounted you use the security screws to lock it in place. The software is much like the Nest doorbell, however it is only viewed through the Google Home App. All the settings and camera video footage are viewed through there. On the software side of things, this is where this shines in my opinion. Because of the vertical mounting of my camera, the footage was upside down. Again, props to the software folks at Google for having a setting to invert the footage 180 degrees to solve this issue! Then you can set how much you want to be notified and make zones in your footage and get notifications on people/vehicles/pets or animals. Because of my front lights are powered on the same line, this means that I will need to figure out an option to keep the switch on to power the lights without keeping the lights on all night to constantly power the camera. Thank goodness this has a battery and has a great idle feature to save power when the light fixture is powered down. I think my only options are to take out the older floodlight bulbs and replace them with smart ones as well so that the power line is constantly on. Overall this new floodlight system is great overall, minus the hiccups with my install. I do wish there were more instructions or places to get instructions on the install. Also the screws should be marked for what purpose. That would also be very helpful, even though there was a quick start guide pamphlet that did show what was in the box but did not tell me which screws go to what part of the instructions. Would I recommend this product? Oh yes. It's a great light and looks very futuristic and modern! The software is easy to navigate, especially if you are somewhat familiar with other Google products like the Google Nest doorbell. Another great feature of the software is that the lowest tier subscription does not limit the number of cameras you want to add onto the same home system, which is huge if I want to add more Nest cams in the future.

Super Easy Setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, opening this up it is clearly a quality product. It has the kind of feel that gives confidence it will hold up to the elements. Also, they have thought of everything in terms of installation. It is the little details like including different size screws to accommodate various junction boxes and a hanger to hold the unit while you are doing the wiring hook up that are next level features that give confidence that this was a good choice. Adding it to my google home app was super easy and setup intuitive especially if you have set up other devices using that interface. All in all this works as described and I am really happy with the reliability and functionality.

Good Product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always liked Google Home products and was not miffed when I found that I could control this with the aforementioned app and not the Nest app. I cannot talk about the ease of installation as my line was shorted and had to get an electrician to connect this for me. But what I can say is that connection and performance and monitoring through the app has been a breeze. You need to be subscribed to Nest Aware service to get the full features of this but even without that this should be a good utility buy. The spotlight is wonderful and motion detection is strong, too strong it seems. No 4K but it does not bother me at all. Highly recommended.

Don't waste your money...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two wired nest cam floodlights in 2022. Now two years later one will not turn on because it has a bad battery. What genius designed these with a battery that would cause the device that has power wired to it to not work? The person/facial recognition/animal detection is terrible at best. Somehow between the original Nest outdoor IQ cameras and these Google pooped the bed. The original Nest Outdoor IQ cameras are incredible. I still have several that are working 8+ years later. However, you can't get those anymore. I would highly suggest finding a different camera and leave these worthless bricks on the shelf.

Posted .Hi there Noel. Thanks for your feedback on the Nest Cam with Floodlight. We understand your frustration with the inoperable camera and the detection performance. The design choice to include a battery in the Nest Cam with Floodlight is intended to provide backup power in case of temporary outages. However, we completely understand your concerns about its impact on the device's performance when it's wired for power. Regarding the issue that your device does not turn on, we recommend checking the power connection at the floodlight and outlet to ensure a secure fit. If you tried the suggested step and the issue persists, we recommend reaching out to our dedicated team of specialists on the Google Help Center here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Perfect for just above the house
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It took me a while to get it installed, electrical work is not really my thing. But I got somebody to install it for me and off we went. Very ease of use once you have it hooked up and I do recommend wired versus wire less. We have a backup generator and we will never lose power so we'll never be in a position where the camera is not working. Pretty good resolution whenever you pull it up on your phone but I feel like it's per the phone cuz it looks great on my girlfriend's phone and it looks okay on my phone. Highly recommend go out and do this, can't put a price on safety anymore.
