Perfect camera and light for your backyard. Lots of options and allows you to know if somebody’s walk around in your backyard.

Bright lights, easy setup, fantastic instructions, packaging, and presentation. Only downside (which is a big one) is the Google Home app (-2 stars)
These camera floodlights were super easy to install and setup, with fantastic instructions that walk you through everything. Video quality isn't the best available, but I'm also not spending $400+ per camera for something from Ubiquiti... The added ability for having easy smart controls to just use the floodlights as regular backyard/garage lights is fantastic (+1 star back).
Now to list a couple of issues, the major one being the Google Home app... These new cameras from the Google Nest line (not to be confused with the older generation "Nest" cameras) are only able to be setup in the Google Home app. This wouldn't be an issue if the app came even close to the functionality and ease of use found on the Nest app. Scrubbing through footage is terrible, you can't playback recently recorded footage, and no way to access the footage on a desktop/laptop - only through the Google Home app on your phone.
If you're in need of some smart flood lights, and want the added benefit of an outdoor camera, and are already in the Google/Nest product family, look no further. BUT, if you are looking to use this mainly as a security camera, or this is your first delve into any of the Google/Nest cameras or products, maybe try out the Ring floodlight.
Hi LMRN, thanks for sharing a review about the Nest Cam with Floodlight, and we’re glad that you find the set up and installation instructions fantastic, and that you like the bright lights, packaging and presentation. We understand that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing the Nest cameras using the Nest app. However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. And you can view both your old and new Nest Cams together in the Home app. We request for your patience as we’re working on a seamless solution to create a better user experience. And we suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view for cameras set up in the Google Home app.
Your feedback goes a long way as it helps us identify what we’re doing right, and what areas we need to work on. Meanwhile, let us know if you need help with using the camera features effectively in the Home app, here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Awesome security light and HD camera. Great product from Google. Buy at your local Best Buy or have it shipped to your door.

Was deciding between this and the Ring system. Ended up going this route because we already have a lot of Google products in our home. I did a self-install and it only took me about 45-minutes to an hour, mostly because my caulking skills aren't that great.
The hardware itself is great and the picture from the camera is exceptionally wide and clear. It covered a lot more area than I expected. The lights are also very bright and add a lot of clarity to the picture.
The downsides of this system is ... the same downside across all Google/Nest products. The software is not as good as the competition. I think Nest has the best hardware but without good software to utilize it, it ruins the experience. For example, the camera can detect when there's a person or a car, etc. in the drive way however I cannot 'snooze' events for a time period. So to put that in perspective, I really want this camera to alert me if someone is in my driveway when I am either away from home or at night and you simply can't set that up at the moment. If you enable alerts you will get an alert EVERY TIME. So if you have kids playing in the drive way coming in and out of frame every 5 minutes, guess what ... you're getting alerts every 5 minutes.
Yes you can go into your Google Home app and set it to automatically detect when you and your phone arent at home and go into Away mode and then alerts can follow that protocol. However, my expectation is to be able to set device-specific schedules when I want alerts from specific devices and the software simply does not allow you to do that.
So overall the hardware is superior to the competition but the software the competition has leaves you wanting something more from this system. I think if I had to do it over again, I would have gone with Ring etc.

installed this for 2 years, the floodlight worked great. this year it recorded for 3 days while my house was out of power. during power outage the lights won't come on, but battery enables video recording. Saw a few review claiming this can't be installed under the eave, but that's not true, had my installed under the eave with an after market bracket "Nest Floodlight Eave Mount, White (MF001)" found on Amazon

I have been waiting for this functionality for a long time. Great add on to an existing Nest eco-system with one exception; it does not utilize the Nest app but rather the Google home app. Not a big deal but would have been nice to be able to use choose which app you prefer. I still prefer the Nest app for certain things to be honest. Otherwise excellent and easy to install floodlight camera. Took a star off due to removing Nest App access…
Hi VicD, thanks for giving us a review about the Nest Cam with floodlight. And we’re sorry that it does not utilize the Nest app but rather the Google home app.
We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app, however, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. Our teams are working on enabling the ability to set up and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices, and we’re working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices.
Our dedicated team is always here to help improve your experience. If there’s anything that you’d like us to address with, please reach out to us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

A big upgrade from my Arlo system

I had been a part of the Arlo family of products for years. I was always suckered in by their "higher specs" of 2K/4K video. Let me tell you, the Nest Cam in my opinion has much better video quality. I purchased 3 of these floodlights and am about to purchase 2 more as they produce excellent video, great floodlight brightness and quick responsiveness to alert me of activity. For comparison, I put these up in slightly new locations from my Arlos while temporarily keeping the Arlos live. I received the activity alerts 45 seconds sooner from these despite the Arlos having the chance to see me first. From a technical standpoint, I think the Arlo is alerting me after it's finished filming the full "event" whereas these alert at the start of the event, allowing you to actually take action if needed (greet people at door, etc.). Additionally I am receiving much fewer false alerts than I did on Arlo.
Installation: Overall this went well. Yes, the instructions say these need to be wall-mounted and 90% of homes with pre-existing floodlights mount these on the roof eaves. I mounted these no problem on the roof eave ceiling with the motion sensor facing outwards and flipped the camera image 180 degrees and I have no issues with the motion sensor triggering. Second, these "must be" hardwired which I did for my two existing floodlights, but you can turn these into plug-in cameras by chopping the end off of an outdoor extension cord, separate the wires and connect appropriately to the correct floodlight wires and waterproof appropriately with electrical tape. Would be great to have official ways of doing this as well.

Bright lights and easy setup. My only advice is to pay attention to the little arrows when lining everything up. I had to undo a few times as I overlooked this part.
I wish it worked with the Nest app but not a deal breaker for me. I’m hoping the google home app gets more polished though. It’s just too busy for me.
The camera works great and picture is clear. Night vision is decent and the lights are super bright.
Would definitely buy another to replace another flood light.

Everything you need in a security camera, and super bright motion detector lights. Setup is a breeze with a simple walkthrough from the google home app. Video and audio qualitynis out of this world. The motion detector is not set off by every little movement, as a matter of fact, it has only been set off by either myself walking by, or my dog, no “false alarms”. Grewat product.

Excellent camera floodlight! The picture is clear and works flawlessly. I would have given it 5 stars, but I don’t like the camera is attached to the base by a magnet. I prefer it to be attached with a better secured manner. Otherwise, it’s an excellent camera/floodlight combo.
I waited for a google floodlight to hit the market

I wanted to replace one of my floodlights, but at the time google did not have a cam floodlight product on the market, so I purchased a ring floodlight camera. Eventually, Nest was introduced, and I immediately purchased the cam floodlight and installed, which was simple... I was not disappointed! The google nest cam floodlight and subscription integrated well with my existing google products. The camera works very well. The only difference between the ring and the nest cam in my experience, is the color night vision. However, if I want the nest camera to record in color, I only have to turn on the flood lights, which is a nice option. Comparing the installed Ring and the Nest cam floodlights, both continue to operate well after 18 months. My preference is the Google Nest because of the subscription service fees, and the product itself!

I have several Google Nest cameras. They have amazing video quality with a wide viewing angle. Along with a painless setup, these cameras are top notch. And throw in spot lights that are brighter than the sun, it’s a combo you can’t beat!

Item is easy to install and works great. Make sure to cut off power and use no contact voltage tester to confirm prior to installing. Floodlight is very bright and captures evening footage with ease. The unit does protrude a bit from the wall

Installed two floodlight cameras and added outdoor cameras all around my house and detached garages. Works extremely well with cameras being clear. Hooked them up to solar panels and while the system was expensive it was worth every penny. Google Home app is very easy to use and cameras can be displayed on my in-house Google Home display as well.

After some research we opted to replace our Ring floodlight cams to match our other Nest devices. We made the decision on the Nest Floodlight cams because we wanted to go with all google products and the audio and camera quality were much more improved than our current floodlight cams.
Setup was a breeze, light is bright, and we're happy with the camera. We mostly knew what to expect but keep in mind:
-- though a Nest cam, it uses the Google Home app. Like others, I really wish the Nest app was going to continue.
-- the field of view is not as wide as our prior Ring camera, but the tradeoff of a better camera and audio was fine for us.
-- if you need to rewire elements of the camera at all / access the wiring, it is sealed other than the 2 wires for power and 1 for ground. Shouldn't matter for most but I only discovered later that our prior camera had been wired to trigger other lights and to do so he had separated out the wires in the Ring camera.
Overall happy but hope the Google Home app runs more like the Nest app in the future as far as cameras go.

Easy to physically install (swapped out an existing motion-activated floodlight), and was easy to set-up... However really disappointed that this NEST CAMERA IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE NEST APP. It does work well in the google home app, and luckily my existing nest cameras and thermostats are all already in the home app (though I'm not used to checking and using them there, so don't have a good feel for how the UI compares). I get that google is trying to migrate users over to the home app, but I enjoyed the nest app and am annoyed at this misleading marketing. Also note that when the floodlights burn out, you will have to replace the whole unit (maybe not the camera itself though?) - worth researching if you are considering this floodlight.
Hi there, NCAP. We appreciate your feedback, and we’re glad that the installation of the Nest Cam with Floodlight went easy for you. But we’re sorry to learn it didn’t meet your expectations.
Our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. Our teams are working on enabling the ability to set up and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices. We're also working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices.
Having an option to replace the busted floodlights, instead of the whole Floodlight unit, is a great addition to its features. We’d be happy to share this with the right team for future improvements. I had to get a mounting block for my siding since the previous owners of my house didn't know how to install floodlights properly, but the floodlight cam works great. I love all the settings and the camera quality is good. The night vision is great but having the floodlight turn on automatically is better. I'm going to get a second one for the side of my house.

Love this camera, lights are bright (and dim-able), great night camera, awesome picture quality. The only thing I dislike is that you cannot use it with the NEST app. You have to use the google home app. That is the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.
Hi Augustlp, thank you for posting your review. We're glad to hear that you're enjoying the performance of your Nest Cam with floodlights. We can see that your experience with the app was less than ideal. Our priority with this launch was to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest products and to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Your feedback here helps us understand better your preference and needs in the products and services we provide. Rest assured that we'll relay this to the right team.

These are a great all around product. The construction quality is great and comes with everything you will need for installation. The lights are surprisingly bright ad the camera picture quality is very nice as well with a pretty wide range. I guess the only complaint I could have it that the camera itself is a little bulky for a digital camera, but it does seem durable. It actually attaches to the fixture via a magnetic mount, which I am on the fence with at the moment. It seems to be a very strong magnet and has yet to fall off, surviving some pretty intense storms and winds, but we will see how long it lasts. It does make for a nice ability to move and position the camera itself in a pretty wide range of positions though. All in all, these are great. I have a couple of them and have no issues with connection or functions at all so far. One other thing I didn't realize ahead of time. These ARE dimmable LED's, via the app. Which is very nice when you want to switch the lights on constant for sitting outside and don't want the super bright LED's blaring down on you.

Easy to install, love that they included a little hook to hold the fixture while you connect the electric.
Flood light and camera works as you would expect. Any seem to figure out how to get the video to stream to my google hub but I’m sure I’ll figure it out when I can spend more time in the settings.
