Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish it worked with the nest app along with my doorbell and hub max but it only works with the google home app. Any time I go to view the camera, the lights automatically turn on. I’m not able to live view in night vision. To avoid having the lights come on, I can hit the notifications button in the Google home app. This gives all the events from everything in a list, but if nothing has triggered the camera, there is nothing listed. The device itself get 5 stars as it is solid and easy enough to install. The clarity is great and gives a wide angled view that is better than I expected. It has alerted me to several animals to include a rabbit at night about 30 feet away.

Motion detection on Nest Cam (Battery) can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
3. Restart your Camera.

2. Restart your camera: When you restart your camera, it will refresh its connection. Instructions depend on what kind of device you have.
3. Restart your router: When you restart your router and modem, it will reset your internet connection.
4. Check the settings on your Wi-Fi router or access point: In some cases, settings on your router or access point could cause a problem with the connection. High firewall security or parental controls can block new devices from connecting to your Wi-FI network

The higher the video quality setting you choose, the sharper and more detailed your footage can be, but it also uses more of your internet bandwidth. This setting lets you choose the maximum video quality for your doorbell. But whichever level you pick, your camera will automatically adjust its resolution and compression according to how much bandwidth is available. They're clear they have a wide range of view and they're easy to interact with with your other Google home devices. Highly recommend these cameras. Unfortunately we weren't able to actually keep this item as we were not able to hardwire it where we needed it so we did return the product, but we have the intention to replace it with another Google camera that just doesn't need to be hardwired in.
