    BLUESTACKS Download for the WIN!!

Love...Love...Love..Love these cameras. When you add with Nest...flawless...now here's the real reason I'm writing this review. IF..you want to access your computer with GOOGLE HOME..just like you do on your Apple or Android....I know.. I know...you think it's impossible....ahhhh...check this out....DOWNLOAD BLUESTACKS...then open Google Play..then search for Google Home...make sure you already have this account up and running and have already at least onetime signed in with your Google Account. I can now pull up all my video feeds and alerts and whatever else you want to do when you are bored.....doorbell...over garage..spotlight side of house...back yard and door.....all tied together seamlessly......and 6.00 bucks a month with Google Nest Cameras...if you use others and want whatever cool things they do....you PAY for that subscription separately......anyway...thought I'd help out some that may want this feature on their HOME Computer.....you can also buy the NEST HUB which will do the same thing.

    Works well but mounts vertically

I got this to replace a light that roofers damaged. When I got it I did not realize that it was designed to be mounted to a vertical wall. Unfortunately all of my security lights are attached to angled eaves. While I was able to mount and aim the lights/base unit to illuminate the area I wanted lit, I was unable to get the camera aimed properly due to the length of the cable that attaches it to the base. The motion detector works but is aimed more upwards than outwards as intended and thus does not activate as quickly as it would if properly mounted. That being said, the camera/light functions as it should. The camera can't rotate enough to produce a vertical picture but I get a great picture rotated 90 degrees. The picture is great, day or night and despite the angle its clear what's going on. I love being able to Hey Google, turn on the courtyard light and having it come on. Next time my handy man comes by I will have him make a proper mounting spot on the wall. In the mean time I will enjoy the light as I mis-mounted it.

The camera is nice. I don't know why I feel like I should be seeing movie grade quality lol but it does the trick and the lighting is bright.

A great replacement for my floodlight and camera

As the title states, this was exactly what I wanted in respect to replacing both my camera which runs on batteries and also replaces my floodlights. Like other google products I own, this was boxed extremely well. The snow or white color is nice, but it will not remain clean for very long! Especially on the install part.  WIth the nest floodlight kit, this is meant to replace an existing floodlight you already have installed on your house. Let me repeat, this uses the older box to install the nest mounting plate for the install. There is NO option to use this on a new install without an existing box installed. You will need to call an electrician to install that if you do not know how. I would have needed to do that if I didn't have an existing floodlight to replace.   The instructions for the install are actually best done through the google home app. FIRST OFF TURN OFF YOUR ELECTRICITY. Yes, you have not wired it and connected the camera initially, but you can get past that step and scan the QR code on the camera to get to the correct install instructions. For me the code brought me to the camera only and the camera with floodlight. Once I was able to get to these instructions, it was pretty clear in the install process EXCEPT for the screws included and which screws best fit where. Next was the mounting plate. Most have floodlights installed against a pillar or wall, mine was installed on top of the eve of my house so I needed to install this light vertically. Thank goodness they included a s-hook to easily hang to wire the new fixture to the house! However, my issue was the mounting bracket of the light. If you are mounting it against the wall, this would normally mean you are installing it parallel to the ground. This is where Google tells you to line up the lines with a leveler. In my case, I needed to figure out and determine the correct orientation of the motion sensor, lights and camera. The mounting bracket first needed to be mounted to the existing electrical box against the house. With this, you have to make sure you use the correct screws to do so. Make sure you use the 4 mounting ones! I figured this out the hard way. Now going back to the vertical mount in my case, I needed to affix my mounting plate to face towards where I want the camera to face. There are arrows to mount the plate to make sure you mount it correctly, just follow those instructions provided. The next part is to use the wire nuts to connect the corresponding wires and then tuck those back into the electrical box past the mount. Make sure you do this because the last part took the most time with me.  You have to mount the light onto the plate, slightly turn counter clockwise and then press down and turn clockwise until it locks into place. THIS was absolutely the worst part of the install. It took me a good half an hour to mount it. Also once it's mounted you use the security screws to lock it in place. The software is much like the Nest doorbell, however it is only viewed through the Google Home App. All the settings and camera video footage are viewed through there. On the software side of things, this is where this shines in my opinion. Because of the vertical mounting of my camera, the footage was upside down. Again, props to the software folks at Google for having a setting to invert the footage 180 degrees to solve this issue! Then you can set how much you want to be notified and make zones in your footage and get notifications on people/vehicles/pets or animals. Because of my front lights are powered on the same line, this means that I will need to figure out an option to keep the switch on to power the lights without keeping the lights on all night to constantly power the camera. Thank goodness this has a battery and has a great idle feature to save power when the light fixture is powered down. I think my only options are to take out the older floodlight bulbs and replace them with smart ones as well so that the power line is constantly on. Overall this new floodlight system is great overall, minus the hiccups with my install. I do wish there were more instructions or places to get instructions on the install. Also the screws should be marked for what purpose. That would also be very helpful, even though there was a quick start guide pamphlet that did show what was in the box but did not tell me which screws go to what part of the instructions. Would I recommend this product? Oh yes. It's a great light and looks very futuristic and modern! The software is easy to navigate, especially if you are somewhat familiar with other Google products like the Google Nest doorbell. Another great feature of the software is that the lowest tier subscription does not limit the number of cameras you want to add onto the same home system, which is huge if I want to add more Nest cams in the future.

So, opening this up it is clearly a quality product. It has the kind of feel that gives confidence it will hold up to the elements. Also, they have thought of everything in terms of installation. It is the little details like including different size screws to accommodate various junction boxes and a hanger to hold the unit while you are doing the wiring hook up that are next level features that give confidence that this was a good choice. Adding it to my google home app was super easy and setup intuitive especially if you have set up other devices using that interface. All in all this works as described and I am really happy with the reliability and functionality.

I purchased two wired nest cam floodlights in 2022. Now two years later one will not turn on because it has a bad battery. What genius designed these with a battery that would cause the device that has power wired to it to not work? The person/facial recognition/animal detection is terrible at best. Somehow between the original Nest outdoor IQ cameras and these Google pooped the bed. The original Nest Outdoor IQ cameras are incredible. I still have several that are working 8+ years later. However, you can't get those anymore. I would highly suggest finding a different camera and leave these worthless bricks on the shelf.

Hi there Noel. Thanks for your feedback on the Nest Cam with Floodlight. We understand your frustration with the inoperable camera and the detection performance. The design choice to include a battery in the Nest Cam with Floodlight is intended to provide backup power in case of temporary outages. However, we completely understand your concerns about its impact on the device's performance when it's wired for power. Regarding the issue that your device does not turn on, we recommend checking the power connection at the floodlight and outlet to ensure a secure fit. If you tried the suggested step and the issue persists, we recommend reaching out to our dedicated team of specialists on the Google Help Center here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I have always liked Google Home products and was not miffed when I found that I could control this with the aforementioned app and not the Nest app. I cannot talk about the ease of installation as my line was shorted and had to get an electrician to connect this for me. But what I can say is that connection and performance and monitoring through the app has been a breeze. You need to be subscribed to Nest Aware service to get the full features of this but even without that this should be a good utility buy. The spotlight is wonderful and motion detection is strong, too strong it seems. No 4K but it does not bother me at all. Highly recommended.

It took me a while to get it installed, electrical work is not really my thing. But I got somebody to install it for me and off we went. Very ease of use once you have it hooked up and I do recommend wired versus wire less. We have a backup generator and we will never lose power so we'll never be in a position where the camera is not working. Pretty good resolution whenever you pull it up on your phone but I feel like it's per the phone cuz it looks great on my girlfriend's phone and it looks okay on my phone. Highly recommend go out and do this, can't put a price on safety anymore.

Google - Nest Cam with Floodlight blew me away. The intelligent alerts changed the game. Deer typically take over my yard, and this camera cuts down on unneeded alerts. And we recently had a bad storm, and my internet was out, but the onboard storage kept recording. You get a couple of hours saved on video playback of events. And Google lets you easily view from the home hub screen and your mobile devices in HDR. This camera is what every home needs.

get the ring floodlight cam, trust me!!

not sure how this has so many good reviews, nobody whos had the ring floodlight cam first would ever give this 5 stars. im mad as im even writing this review because i switched from a ring floodlight cam to this mess because the ring had started missing some alerts… now im in deep regret about the switch. first of all this nest cam doesn’t even have an alarm sound to deter burglars/crime. i guess ure supposed to use the two way voice option to yell at the criminals on ur property & hope that scares them away?? the ring cam had an alarm sound u could activate. this google cam also only notifies you of someone on your property with the usual iphone text message ding, that u may not even hear, should someone be on your property. theres no choice of louder or more jarring alerts to wake u in the middle of the night if someone is on ur land. of course the ring had many different jarring ringtones to choose from that would wake u & alert u if someone was on ur property in the middle of the night. the ring floodlight cam also had an automated voice alert that would notify trespassers theyre being recorded once they step on your property, this deters crime.. But of course, this Google nest cam doesn’t have this feature either. i also believe this cam lacks the option to set a schedule for the floodlight to turn on automatically when it gets dark outside, so i have to manually turn on the light everyday when nighttime comes. the ring floodlight cam automatically turns on at night. i cant believe this thing is way more expensive with way less features. if ure wondering which to get, there is no comparison. go for the ring
