I have always liked Google Home products and was not miffed when I found that I could control this with the aforementioned app and not the Nest app. I cannot talk about the ease of installation as my line was shorted and had to get an electrician to connect this for me. But what I can say is that connection and performance and monitoring through the app has been a breeze. You need to be subscribed to Nest Aware service to get the full features of this but even without that this should be a good utility buy. The spotlight is wonderful and motion detection is strong, too strong it seems. No 4K but it does not bother me at all. Highly recommended.

It took me a while to get it installed, electrical work is not really my thing. But I got somebody to install it for me and off we went. Very ease of use once you have it hooked up and I do recommend wired versus wire less. We have a backup generator and we will never lose power so we'll never be in a position where the camera is not working. Pretty good resolution whenever you pull it up on your phone but I feel like it's per the phone cuz it looks great on my girlfriend's phone and it looks okay on my phone. Highly recommend go out and do this, can't put a price on safety anymore.

I purchased two wired nest cam floodlights in 2022. Now two years later one will not turn on because it has a bad battery. What genius designed these with a battery that would cause the device that has power wired to it to not work? The person/facial recognition/animal detection is terrible at best. Somehow between the original Nest outdoor IQ cameras and these Google pooped the bed. The original Nest Outdoor IQ cameras are incredible. I still have several that are working 8+ years later. However, you can't get those anymore. I would highly suggest finding a different camera and leave these worthless bricks on the shelf.

Hi there Noel. Thanks for your feedback on the Nest Cam with Floodlight. We understand your frustration with the inoperable camera and the detection performance. The design choice to include a battery in the Nest Cam with Floodlight is intended to provide backup power in case of temporary outages. However, we completely understand your concerns about its impact on the device's performance when it's wired for power. Regarding the issue that your device does not turn on, we recommend checking the power connection at the floodlight and outlet to ensure a secure fit. If you tried the suggested step and the issue persists, we recommend reaching out to our dedicated team of specialists on the Google Help Center here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Google - Nest Cam with Floodlight blew me away. The intelligent alerts changed the game. Deer typically take over my yard, and this camera cuts down on unneeded alerts. And we recently had a bad storm, and my internet was out, but the onboard storage kept recording. You get a couple of hours saved on video playback of events. And Google lets you easily view from the home hub screen and your mobile devices in HDR. This camera is what every home needs.

get the ring floodlight cam, trust me!!

not sure how this has so many good reviews, nobody whos had the ring floodlight cam first would ever give this 5 stars. im mad as im even writing this review because i switched from a ring floodlight cam to this mess because the ring had started missing some alerts… now im in deep regret about the switch. first of all this nest cam doesn’t even have an alarm sound to deter burglars/crime. i guess ure supposed to use the two way voice option to yell at the criminals on ur property & hope that scares them away?? the ring cam had an alarm sound u could activate. this google cam also only notifies you of someone on your property with the usual iphone text message ding, that u may not even hear, should someone be on your property. theres no choice of louder or more jarring alerts to wake u in the middle of the night if someone is on ur land. of course the ring had many different jarring ringtones to choose from that would wake u & alert u if someone was on ur property in the middle of the night. the ring floodlight cam also had an automated voice alert that would notify trespassers theyre being recorded once they step on your property, this deters crime.. But of course, this Google nest cam doesn’t have this feature either. i also believe this cam lacks the option to set a schedule for the floodlight to turn on automatically when it gets dark outside, so i have to manually turn on the light everyday when nighttime comes. the ring floodlight cam automatically turns on at night. i cant believe this thing is way more expensive with way less features. if ure wondering which to get, there is no comparison. go for the ring

    Google Is Not Nest Anymore!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Google is leaving Nest, as a result if you have previous Nest products, you need the Nest app, if you are buying the new cameras (2021 releases) they will not show up in the Nest app so you need two apps. As a result, if you are thinking that Nest is ideal for home automation, you are wrong. You will need to use two different apps. Like for example, if you want settings in your thermostat, you need the Nest app. Any other camera is accessible in the Nest app but not the newest cameras. Also these cameras were not as easy to setup as the previous cameras. The video is in a small frame and that was making it impossible on a smart phone to pause, play, rewind, etc. Google really took user friendly out of the Nest products with this one. I called customer service and they said that they are trying to move everything over into the Google Home app and are leaving the Nest app. However if you purchased Nest Secure, you will always need two apps and that will eventually just go away. My recommendation, Ring... I am so frustrated after spending thousands of dollars on Google.

Hi Jam3s, thanks for sharing a review about the Nest Camera with Floodlight, and we’re sorry to learn that it’s a frustrating experience for you.

We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app and web app, however, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We chose to transition to the Home app because this app is designed for the future of the smart home, a single place to set up, manage, automate, and control your home. Today, most home devices are controlled across multiple apps, but we’re working on making the Google Home app the central controller across all your home devices, including Google devices and devices from other brands.

Your input helps us better understand our customer preferences and needs. We’ll share this with the right team to work on improving our products and services. Meanwhile, we’re hoping you’ll consider to keep using the new Nest Cam, and for any concerns or anything you’d like us to address with, please let us know anytime here and we’d be happy to help: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

As others have stated, this will only work in Google Home and not the Nest app. This requires you to have two separate apps for your cameras. Google is commited to forcing you in this direction as they have publicy shared they are forcing this change on their user base.

Hi iluvchicken, thanks for your insight. We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the Google Home app as the main software to manage your Nest Cam with Floodlight.

Our goal is to make the Google Home app the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam with Floodlight:
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

If you already have some Nest cameras installed in your home, you may transfer them to the Google Home app. Check out this help article for more information: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

Just Google, not Google/Nest - Nest was Quality

I am a long-time Nest enthusiast. We have 5 Nest IQ cams, Nest Doorbell, and several Nest Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors. We needed a floodlight as our old one went out and thought to give the Google/Nest Cam w/ Floodlight a try. After installing the floodlights and trying to set up the Cam in the Nest app, I came to find that it is not compatible with my loved, easy-to-use Nest app. Google, we don't want to use your outdated, clunky Home App (it sucks). Google, you took an excellent Nest company that made quality products with outstanding customer support and Googleized it. Get it together and act like the trillion-dollar company that you are.

    Worst generation of Nest products

    Posted .

This is not the same Nest that got me hooked a couple years ago. This camera doesn't even work in the Nest app, you need to use Google Home. It won't stream to your chromecast or Google TV any longer, and when you go to look at what it recorded 5 minutes ago, you're as likely to get the video as you are "this video isn't available yet" as you wait for the buffer to upload. The lights are great, the video quality is fine, the night vision is the same as previous generations, but the software interface has gone downhill in a big way. If it wasn't hardwired through the brick on my house I'd return it.
