Originally we had dusk to dawn bulbs in the garage lights but it caused the nest cam to never go into night vision. We end d up turning the lights off completely and it got a lot clearer. Setup was easy, integration was easy, I have nothing but praise for it. We did buy a starter strap for the camera to the body just in case. It's awful expensive to rely on a magnet only, especially here in Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plains.

Installed in less than 20 minutes. Uses the Google Home App instead of the far superior Nest App, but it's fine as long as you are aware of that before you purchase.

Motion detection for your Nest Cam with Floodlight can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. We recommend trying out the steps below:
1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
3. Restart your Camera.

Failed quickly

One of the floodlight cameras failed after about a year. They have an internal battery even though they're wired and that battery failed. Google won't replace it or sell me a replacement battery. Took it apart to pull the battery and it's some proprietary one that no one sells. The device itself is alright when it works, but definitely not the best. Lots of software issues and also have to wait a while to see video after it's recorded so if something just happened you can't just open it and see it. Useless without subscription as videos only exist for 3 hours so if something happens at midnight it's gone before you wake up. Swapping to Ring, even though it's probably not much better.

Soffit vs wall mount

I installed mine in a soffit condition vs a wall mounted condition. I was not sure it would work properly in that configuration but it works great.

It's great and compatible with the home app. Only down side is its not compatible with the next app. Seems silly not to integrate it with its own app.

Don't waste your money

You have to use Google home? That app is garbage. The video scanning is trash. The clips it makes are trash. The camera and floodlight are great. The obviousness of having to use two different apps one which is completely terrible. Not worth the price. Just buy a floodlight and put a camera next to it

Smart Light and 24/7 Recording Camera in One, Yes!

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Smart Light and 24/7 Camera in One is a great Idea but you know whats a better Idea if it worked on the nest app and not the just unstabble Google home app. But then they have a google home screen with camera (Google home hub max) that its camera can only be set up with the nest app. The product is only as good the end user daily interface and that is the problem not the camera itself. App needs improvement.
