Beware before you buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are upgrading from a later generation beware because nobody is mentioning this...Google is transitioning their new products to Google Home which in terms means that all the older products Thermostats, Cameras, Locks, etc. will stay in the Nest App while the new products only go through Google Home and will not show in the Nest App. Which means you can only view live video and talk amongst visitors on through the Google App. Its a bummer and immediately returning product.

Bad return policy for an incompatible gift
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately I purchased this as a gift and there were problems with the setup/compatibility of recipients hookups. My poor review is for Best Buy’s 15 day return policy more so than the product itself. Even Amazon allows returns through the end of January for anything purchased before Christmas. I hate to order from Amazon versus a store but at least with them I could have gotten a refund.

Posted .Hello there, user338833. Thanks for reaching for sharing your experience with the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) and our return policy. We’re sorry for the inconvenience you've encountered and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We understand your disappointment with the return policy, especially considering other retailers offer extended holiday return windows. While we strive to offer competitive policies, there are limitations due to various factors, including product categories and vendor agreements. That said, we'd like to learn more about the specific compatibility issues encountered with the recipient's setup to see if we can find a solution that works for you. Major downgrade from 1st version.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall it is a Major downgrade from first version. If you never had first version you will probably like it but beware if you are going from 1st to 2nd. Resolution and Aspect Ratio is the most noticeable downgrade. To bad major retailers dont sell 1st version anymore.

Posted .Hello there, IvanC. Thanks for sharing insights about the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). We're sorry to hear that your experience didn't meet your expectations.
Unlike some other video doorbells, Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) has a 145° diagonal field of view at 3:4 aspect ratio. It is intended so you can see people from head to toe, and packages left on the ground. While the newer model offers improved features like increased resolution, better night vision, and a sleeker design, we acknowledge the trade-off in field of view. We're constantly evaluating user feedback and exploring ways to optimize future models to balance desired features with a wider field of view. In the meantime, you may be able to adjust the viewing angle slightly within the Home app settings for better coverage depending on your porch layout. Or if possible, consider mounting the doorbell slightly higher or at a slight angle to capture a wider area.

Unreliable!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Nest Doorbell is completely and utterly unreliable. The camera freezes when it begins recording audio and video. As a result, only the first second or two is recoded which is not nearly enough to see if there is a welcomed guest or it is an intruder. Moreover, if the doorbell is used, the video either freezes or goes to a black screen. To make matters worse, the audio produces an obstructive echo that makes communication useless with the individual at the door. All in all, this device is unmistakenly worthless!

Frustrating
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No support for nest app. So now I need 2 apps to see my cameras . Only Google could make a nest camera that doesn't work in their nest app. Their old cameras don't fully work in the Google home app and their new cameras don't work in the nest app

Posted .Hi Redman, thanks for sharing your feedback on Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). We can imagine how having to use two different apps can be an inconvenience for you. We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy having the option to view the Nest camera feeds from the Nest app or web or web app. However, our priority is to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras, like you, can view your camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.
We request for your patience as we’re working on a seamless solution to create a better user experience. Meanwhile, we suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view for cameras set up in the Google Home app. And if you need help with any concerns about the performance and functionality of the camera, You're always welcome to let us know here and we’ll gladly help you the best we can: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

MAJOR FLAW for security
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Video clips of events are automatically generated or if someone presses the doorbell. But if something occurs where the Google does not think is an "event", a clip is not created. A car was stolen off the street right in front of the camera but since it did not "flag" it as an "event", I am not able to download the clip to submit to the police. This is an available feature on the old Nest app, but if you're forced to use the Google Home app with this product, you will find out too late like many other people complaining in the Google Community forums that this has been an issue for a while.

Posted .Hello there, EugeneK. We appreciate your feedback on Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). It’s unfortunate to hear about the experience you had during an incident.
We suggest checking your camera settings as event detection depends on settings that you select. You can choose which events your doorbell can detect and record (people, motion, package, etc.). From there, you (and each member of your home) can decide which of those events to get notifications for. If an event is turned off, you won’t get notifications for that kind of activity. You can also change the settings like adjusting video quality, wake-up sensitivity, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas.
Furthermore, you may need to check for any range issue or wireless interference that can affect the overall performance of your camera. Sometimes the device may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away from your router. You may also check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the doorbell and your router as these items could block the connection.
