The wiring if one is replacing the original Nest doorbell is more complicated. The original Nest had extra wires attached to the disk that comes with the devices. I got cold feet in attempting to fix so I called an electrician who was quickly able to safely attach the wires competing the circuit.

The Gen 3 upgrade is worth it for anyone with a first- or second-gen wired doorbell-mainly for its 2K video, wider view, smarter Al alerts, and simple drop-in upgrade path. However, it demands a more expensive subscription for continuous recording, and users who preferred the legacy Nest app may find the transition to Google Home less flexible.

I love this little camera! I used to have the 2nd gen battery and this one is by far so much better! How wide the camera view is, the clarity, and the fact I don't have to charge it every week is the best part! It is so worth the upgrade!

Work extremely well and with my Alexa and Google devices. Camera activity pops up on my Samsung TV as well. Easy to install.

This is a much needed upgrade by Google. 2k and a wider angle view. They still need to work on nighttime quality.

Upgraded from the 2nd gen. It's definitely an upgrade, but seems to keep getting disconnected randomly. Not sure if it's a software issue or hardware issue. I only wish it was 4k video as most doorbells are 4k capable now. I did buy it on sale. Overall works good if you have Google Home ecosystem.

Great upgrade from the 1st and 2nd generation Nest doorbell camera. Just remember that it does need a more powerful doorbell transformer and you might need to get a newer bell if it can't handle the new transformer's output.

Moved from 2nd gen and it has been quite an impressive jump. Better clarity in night mode and overall improved clarity. "Fish eye" lens takes some getting used to - so research that view prior to purchase if you do not like it - don't make the leap. But I like the expanded view.

Replaced a broken Nest gen 1 doorbell. The install was very easy. The only drawback is gen 3 doorbells are not able to be connected to the Nest app and must be on Google home, which is currently not as streamlined of an app. The fishbowl view takes getting used to but is fine and clear.

Great camera, But 1 thing the screw at the top to hold in the bracket was horrible to install.

Install is more complicated than I anticipated as it is necessary to install a component in the 'chime box'. That entailed bringing a ladder into the house. Nothing terrible, I just thought installation would be simply replacing the push button. Also, I wish you could rotate the camera view like you can on their Nest Cams to allow for a horizontal install.

Good doorbell camera. However having issues playing back saved video.

I upgraded from the Nest Doorbell Wired 2nd Gen. The hardest part is turning off the transformer to do the wiring. It's a 5 minute swap. If I had to suggest an improvement I wish the speaker was louder. I don't think it gets any louder than the last model.

The camera is great. Been a nest camera user for over 10 years. The app has been subpar at best since the swap to google home.
