This is my 2nd Google (Nest) Doorbell. My previous one was I guess the 1st generation (I don't know, I can't keep up). Maybe it's just me (and I haven't installed other brands of video doorbells so I don't know if they're any different), but I told my wife if this one stops working I'm just getting a "Please Knock" sign. It's not all Google's fault. Whoever decided it was a good idea to use wiring that's about as thin as my dog's whiskers get their head examined. It's low voltage wiring and it is an absolute PAIN to work with (you've been forwarned...) I won't rant on it but just hope you're builder left enough extra inside the wall because it's gonna break. Probably several times... The thing is Google did actually improve somewhat over the previous design. Previous the wiring coming out of the wall needed to be wrapped around the screws on the back of the doorbell directly then tighten down the screws. And guess what, a little too tight and the wire breaks. Now though they've included some pigtails that attached to the back of the doorbell and then the wiring from the wall is inserted into quick disconnect type connectors on the other end of the pigtails. This is definitely better, but the problem now is those connectors are bigger than they need to be so good luck getting them tucked away so you can actually attach the doorbell to the wall plate. Again, I don't know if other brands have come up with better solutions but I have to think someone has... And the way the doorbell attaches to wall plate seems like a good idea, but not in practice (unless you can get the wires out of the way somehow. The install animation shows the wires magically being pulled back into the wall as you put the doorbell on the wall plate... Not sure how that's supposed to be done. As far as the camera itself, I wish my old one still worked. On this new version they've widened the field of view for some reason (it's a doorbell camera, not some type of security cam) and it looks like a massive fisheye view of your front porch. The color is not true either. It's just a big design mistake in my opinion. It still has all the features like announcing familiar faces, setting zones to monitor, what type of events to monitor (i.e. people, packages, motion, etc.), live talk, Gemini integration, etc. at least. It's really big though so I would expect the camera itself to be way better than it is. I really wish they hadn't put the stupid wide field of view camera in it and that they better thought out the installation. Personally I would try to find a previous generation version or wait and hope they correct these things on the next version. Or just try a different manufacturer's doorbell.

I love our Google home products. I don’t like the idea that some of the older products are no longer being supported, but I understand that technology changes and that’s the price to stay “up-to-date.” The doorbell camera and notification abilities are wonderful. I’m not a “techy” person when it comes to configuring things from scratch so having items like the Google doorbell and thermostats and the ease to install and then configure them is just what I need.

I have to say you need to have the google home subscription, the cloud storage allows you to keep a month of videos at the reach of your palm. It does allow you to save videos from erasing and has the integration with the google home devices to see who is at the doorbell.Every time the doorbell gets rung I have a view from my google home device who is at the door.

The Google Doorbell works well and delivers clear video and audio. Motion alerts are accurate, and package detection is very helpful. The app is user-friendly, though some advanced features require a subscription. Overall, it’s a solid, dependable doorbell that integrates nicely with other Google devices.

Excellent upgrade from the gen 1 nest camera. I had the gen 1 for 8 years and it worked great through all extreme conditions but the front started to peel and it was time to upgrade. The enhanced wide angle view of this model makes a huge difference for my porch. I can see much more and the detection is better. Very excited to have this for the next 8-10 years!

Easy setup and installation due to the videos provided by Google. Definitely recommend watching the videos before purchasing to check compatibility with existing doorbell wiring and chime. Face recognition needs work. It is not as good as Google Photos' face recognition. The talk feature works well. Works well with the app on Google phones and Google Nest. The app setup took longer than expected. Also recommend the free trial of the Google Home subscription. Overall, we are very satisfied.

I’ve had the Google Nest Doorbell installed for a while now, and overall I’m very happy with it. The video quality is clear, even at night, and I love being able to see and talk to whoever is at the door right from my phone. Alerts are fast, and the integration with the Google Home app makes it easy to check live video and history when I need to.

Love this doorbell. I changed from the ring doorbell to this one and the difference is night and day. Sound quality is better, video quality is better. The notifications are prompt and accurate. Lets me know when there is a package and when it is taken away.

Had for a month and its fantastic. I will say though if you don't have any google speakers at home and you need your chime to be the main source of notification then you may be disappointed as you may need to purchase a different transformer than your current chime has and hire an electrician to install.

Moved in and house had a competitor doorbell. I switched it out for a different competitor model that was recommended. It would not stay connected hard to connect at times. I had the nest first gen at a previous house so went back to it and have had no trouble since.

This device is an upgrade from Gen-1. Just as simple to install and connect to your home network, if you have subscription, there is nothing to do, remove the old, add the new and youre all set. The camera POV and clarity is such an improvement. A definite buy when your old one is no longer working

I can see, hear, greet and talk to anyone coming up to my bell even if they don't ring it. Easy set up and the bell I bought is hard wired so I never have to worry about batteries. The camera is 2k, Gemini is built in and it can learn faces. I love it!
