Beautiful and easy to use thermostat
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Nest Thermostat to replace my failed older Honeywell thermostat from Vivint and it was one of the easiest and most intuitive installations I’ve ever done in my home. The product is beautiful and elegant in my hallway next to my security panel and allows me to use it with its dedicated app or can be controlled from my security system’s app. An excellent smart home product as expected of the Google Nest line of products. I would definitelt recommend it to anyone looking to have an easy to use thermostat that helps regulate their settings easier and better as well as having a good atarting point to have a truly intrgrated smart home ecosystem.

High Tech Thermostat
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second "smart" thermostat I've owned and it is by far more advanced than the previous (another brand). Setup and installation was pretty seamless. It's extremely user friendly, which is a huge advantage over the other unit I had. The visual display is easy to read and customizable. There's a fair amount of functionality that I don't know I'll use on this. What I like so far about it after a month or so: 1. Ability to show temp outside on the face. 2. Setting a schedule is easy. I haven't explored the learning side of the thermostat too much since we have the schedule set. 3. Adjust the temp via phone app. 4. It has automatically detected me away a few times, so I know that works. Haven't needed it much WFH during COVID though. 5. Energy history. Shows me how the weather has impacted my energy use. The entire Eco setup of the device is great. The one con is that Alexa integration doesn't seem to work as well in hybrid (heat and cool) mode. We're in that season in Florida right now and Alexa gets confused when I try to adjust the temp by voice. Not a huge issue as the app works fine. When I had it just on AC (cool), voice control worked fine. Overall, it's an expensive thermostat that I don't think I will 100% utilize to the fullest, but the ease of use and higher quality app and design made it worth it for me.

Awesome thermostat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to get the nest thermostat so I could change my thermostat remotely from my phone when away from home. It looks great on the wall, has multiple settings to show different info (weather, clock, etc.) when you walk by, and it learns daily patterns via a motion sensor and connecting with the gps on your phone. I was a little creeped out at first that it knew when I was home or not, but it uses that info to help save power. I am completely satisfied with it.

Three weeks and STILL learning?
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is simply the most beautiful thermostat you can buy. Oh, and it works too. I use mine in heat-cool mode which makes sense to me as there's two to three weeks during the year when I can have the heat on in the morning and the A/C turned on in the evening in my three-story townhome. Nest says that all the learning takes place inside the first week or two but it's been three weeks and mine is still learning. This could be my fault however as my schedule has been somewhat erratic. Last week we had the 4th of July holiday so I worked from home. Well, Nest knew I was home the whole time because it knew where my phone was but now, one week later, it is still saying I'm at home even more than two hours after I've left, just like it did on days one and two so maybe it's started reprogramming itself? I do wish it had real geofencing capabilities. People have written in reviews that it has but I have yet to see it. It knows when I leave and when I'm home by my phone's location but its fence, then, if it has one, is only limited by the bounds of my wi-fi signal's reach, not any real location per se. I'm confused by this as there's an "Early On" feature that's supposed to predict when you're coming home and turn on the HVAC if needed before you get home but maybe that only happens once Nest has set up a schedule for you. There's a third party app I may try which is supposed to operate with a real fence in this way as I'm not at all happy with this feature which doesn't seem to be working yet. I'm willing to give it more time though, until it's finished learning. I had Best Buy install this but it looked pretty simple. It comes with a faceplate which is good because what was beneath my old thermostat was a messy wall. It works with Google Assistant just fine performing all the commands you would like. Using heat-cool mode is tricky though because the target temperature you set will change your boundary temperatures at either end which may not be your objective. Oh, and speaking of the boundaries, here's typical behavior for my thermostat: It's set with a range of 72-76 degrees. You'd think this would keep the house at 74 degrees year round but it does not. When the temperature reaches a solid 77, the A/C will come on and cool the house to just under 76. It works similarly with the heat so the desired temperature of 74 degrees is never reached. I think it may operate differently in the heat only or cool only modes but to me, this is the best way to use a smart thermostat. It's a pricy unit, 'tis true. But I found it on sale on a competitive website and Best Buy matched it. Then I got $50 back from the state of Oregon for buying it plus I can save another $50 a year from the electric company by enrolling in the Nest Energy Rewards program. I haven't had a chance to use that yet - we haven't had a heat wave, and I may not like it but I'm willing to give it a try if I can save more $$$.

Google nest
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m 34 and have never thought a thermostat looked cool until Google Nest. Super easy and quick installation for anyone. Bought this a month ago and so far everything is working great. I haven’t had it long enough to speak on savings.

Really awesome product!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If your reading this you probably know that Nest makes very quality products none more well designed than the thermostat. The thermostat looks Good, saves money, works well, and is now at your finger tips on your smart phone. I use the weather feature For the farsight function to display the outdoor weather with forecast for the day. It really is a smart thermostat that is as easy to use as the iPhone. You'll be happy!!

Nest is the best thermostat
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the nest thermostat! Wifi is awesome. You can change your temp when your away from home. You get monthly power usage and other info. You can really fine tune the temperature settings and you can have your unit learn your patterns so it will automatically adjust throughout the day.

So simple it's awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nest thermostat is most advanced product you can get that is this easy to use. Installation is easy, even comes with it's own screwdriver and wire marking tabs. Set up is straight forward and it learns quickly. I went from adjusting daily with previous thermostat to only touching it if I need to set something out of the ordinary and with auto away it saves a ton. Using the app to make adjustments away is a breeze. It's an outstanding product!

Great thermostat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a bit of trouble installing. Not quite as simple as the directions would lead one to believe. However, once installed it works wonderfully. Learns quickly.. After only one week it knows my habits. Lowers the temp at bedtime and shuts itself off when I leave the house. On a cold day I can use the app to get the temp up by the time I arrive home and keep track of how much energy is used every day in the app history. Set it and forget it.

Call me skeptical, but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It really works very well and is not at all technically challenging. Quite easy to use. We installed our own with help from their tech support that sent a personalized wiring instruction but could have guessed it - it's that easy. (Instructions for getting the wiring instruction were in the box.) Not sure yet if it will lower costs but it appears to have so far. Best of all, we can turn the thermostat down if we leave town, from our phone.

NEST THERMOSTAT
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product. Easy to install. Wiring was simple as could be. Directions were very clear. It's great when you're not home and can adjust the Nest from your phone. It has a furnace filter reminder along with a monthly energy saving report. And to make it even more attractive to purchase, it was on sale at Best Buy, and our local energy company gave us a 100.00 rebate. How can you lose with savings like that!!!

Easy to install, easy to use, great savings
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two of these on 2016 Thanks Giving Sale from Best Buy for $200. It was very easy to install (took help from youtube videos). It detects when you are in the house or away and tones down the A/C unit accordingly. I got $100 one time credit per thermostat from my energy provider, so essentially one of my units is free. It is very easy to use, can be controlled via phone and looks cool on the wall!

Best on the market!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks very attractive on the wall and very easy to use. Like all of Google's products the use from the nest app is amazing. I can change the temperature, set schedules and turn off the heat and AC all from my phone. In my opinion this is the best on the market just like their nest yale lock and cameras.

Google isn't great with products.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a Nest thermostat since the original one came out in what, 2013? 2014? This is probably my 7th Nest thermostat across 4 homes. I bought this in a rush because the battery in my previous one died. First, the good points. It looks good. It works well, when it works. It does what it says. But if you have a problem... Good luck. When Nest was Nest, their support was fantastic. Google's support is atrocious. My last Nest was a month out of warranty, and they would not honor a battery replacement when it spontaneously died - and in my opinion, 13 months is massively premature for an internal rechargeable battery to die. Also, figuring out that was the problem took a few hours in itself. The symptom was that WiFi would simply stop working. Even the Google support rep did not know that this was because the internal battery wasn't charging, and there was no notification that this was the issue on the device, strangely.. I have seen battery warnings before when our power went out, so sorta ridiculous that the firmware couldn't recognize the issue in this instance. Yes, there are battery replacement kits available, and yes, I should have perhaps looked into that - but this died during the first cold snap of the year, and I didn't have time for that. A thermostat isn't an optional "I have two weeks for Google to get their stuff together to get me a refurbished half-price replacement" thing. So I just went and bought a new one. Sigh. That being said, it looks good, I was already in the ecosystem so replacement and installation was a snap, and Google hasn't completely destroyed the experience using the Nest thermostat like it has other products it's acquired. Yet. However, this is the last Google product I will buy. The elimination of Nest accounts and the forced integration into Google Home was annoying enough, as Google Home is NOT ready for prime-time (and Google does not seem to care that people are paying to beta-test their software) and when this goes (and it will), I will take the time to convert away from Nest and Google. I may be forced earlier, the way Google axes product lines randomly and with regular frequency for no reason than their engineers were apparently bored with the project. Nest was good when it was Nest, from engineers coming out of Apple. Nest is not that good now that it's Google. I also say this as an unfortunate owner of Google Wi-Fi (10 pucks across 2 networks.. It sounded good in theory, never again), Android TV, Chromebooks, and Google Home. All of which have never failed to disappoint. Google - you do not understand how to build, sell, or service consumer products, and your constant no-notice discontinuation of products inspires zero confidence as a consumer. Your hands-off approach to service may be fine for a smart speaker, but not something as integral to home living as a thermostat. You need to get out of the smart home business. Maybe with any luck Google will sell off Nest again to someone who knows how to do products. Until then, I only stick with it because I've got so much invested in it.

Great Thermostat, Easy Setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up was easy and simple to follow. I love the way the device automatically adjusts to my temp habits and takes into account the temps outside. I can also easily see trends through the app which is a plus! The price is kind Of steep but I ended up getting two of them a lot cheaper due to a price match. Essentially everything you need is in the package. Great buy and I’m loving them!

We love it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have not seen a heating bill yet but I think we will see a savings. What we like is after the first week it learned our routine and automatically adjusts the temperature before we get home, at night and away for the day. What is even better is both my wife and I have it on our phones (Apple & Android) and we adjust it if our routine changes like turning it on before we get home early or tell it when we are away. We have to travel over the weekends for kids sports and it is no longer a worry when we are driving down the road to see if someone remembered to turn down the heat. My wife is not a techie (I am) but she loves the Nest for the simple usage on her phone. Another trick I learned is when I feel a little cold in the house and the heater is not running, I figure it is just a cold spot so from my computer or phone, I run the fan for 15 minutes and it circulates the air allowing the temperature to equalize (especially in the hallway where our thermostat is) and the heater to go on if needed. The last thing I want to mention is customer service. The wiring was not correct and they stay on the phone with you until it is correct. Follow the instructions to take a picture before you disconnect the old one. When our heater broke (circuit board) they never once blamed the heater, they kept working with us to diagnose the issue even putting on an advanced technician until he could absolutely say it was not the thermostat. The only issue was it took about 3 hours between hold times and getting the advanced tech to diagnose.

Awesome Product and Easy Install
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read a lot of reviews before finally purchasing the Nest thermostat. In all, it was about a year between thinking about buying and actually buying it. I have an Xfinity Home security system and it was important to me that the thermostat I chose would work seamlessly with my system. The install was very easy. I chose to repaint the wall it was mounted on so that I would have the clean modern look of just the round "eye" of the thermostat and not use the rectangular baseplate. Wiring was very easy by following the instructions to the letter, especially using the included labels to label the wires before removing them from the old thermostat. The only issue that I had was this. After wiring and installing on the baseplate, there was no power to the screen when I turned the breaker back on. I searched for a solution online and finally came across a troubleshooting guide on the Nest website. It stated that in most cases the "C" wire is not needed by the Nest thermostat. So, I removed the "C" wire and it worked just fine. It would be VERY helpful if Nest would just include this important tidbit in the Installation Guide. Controlling the Nest from either the Nest app or the Xfinity Home app is a breeze. While the Nest thermostat does its best to learn your temp routines throughout the first few days, the app allows you to make minor adjustments or completely reprogram the settings. The Nest thermostat is worth every penny. I only wish I had bought it sooner.

Google Nest Review
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was never happy with the Honeywell Lyric that was in my house. It was not very user friendly. The Google Nest is a great upgrade. Easy to operate, the app works great, and it is much more appealing. It was so easy to install.
