Very easy to install, just follow the instructions. Online app makes it easy to program, if you do not want to do it manually on the unit itself. The self learning feature only takes a few days to know your heating and cooling pattern. Note: I would believe most homes would need to use the backing plate that come with the unit. All the photos of the unit mounted on the wall do not show the plate, only the unit.

The Nest Thermostat was one of the best investments I ever made. It was an easy self installation. Very Easy to master and the phone app is just awesome to navigate and program to your liking. I have not had any issues with it what so ever. I like that I can monitor and change temp wherever I might be. Their customer service is also very good. I contacted them prior to purchase and they answered all of my concerns. High marks from me.

My house was built in 1997 and furnace has only 4 wires, hooked up with granpa style mechanical thermostat. If you already try DIY with some other brand with your 4 wire furnace, I share your pain with G wire situation. This one doesn’t need to modify wire routing or stuff. I don’t know which black magic they use, but this thing works without G wire. (Probably inner battery?)

I have old school round theromstats with mecury in my house. This was the only option for a two wire old system with no common wire. It work on all 3 zones in my house perfectly. Set up easy and I love that I can just set it to away when I leave the house, all thermostats will go into eco mode that you set.
