This product can be connected to the internet and you can allow the local electric company to adjust the settings on days when they need to limit electricity usage. These settings can be overwritten. Supposedly we got some additional rebates since we let it heat us up a bit from 2pm to 6pm on a couple of days. One of the nice features with this is that it cools your house a bit colder from 1:30ish to 2 so that it doesn't have to run as much during the peak period. It also connects to your phone so it knows if you are home or not, and if you are on your way home. (If you are comfortable letting it know that much about you.) If you have enabled this, it will let the house warm up to "away" levels then when the gps can tell you are on your way home Nest begins cooling your house so that it is comfortable by the time you get home.

Do not be intimidated to install this on your own it's not hard. The instructions it comes with and YouTube online shows you how to install. Take a picture of the way the wires were installed on your old thermostat prior to uninstalling. In doing so this will ensure that your connections are connected correctly. It takes the Nest a couple of days to remember what temperatures you like when you are home and at what times you are home. After a couple of days Nest will ask you if you want it to automatically go into "Away Mode" when it senses you are not home. Keep in mind the Nest system has a 1 degree band and learns your particular home. Sometimes it may seem like the Nest Thermostat's maintenance band is larger than 1ºF, but it’s most likely that your system takes a few minutes to start heating or cooling after your Nest Thermostat tells it to.

Please do not be intimidated by this technology. It is sooo easy to install. You don’t need a Nest Pro Installer. Works flawlessly, beautiful color and design. One of my favorite purchases this year.

So simple to install and use. Love the convinience of being able to adjust the temp from my phone no matter where I’m at. The usage history also shows how much my unit has run everyday so I can adjust accordingly in order to save money.

I was skeptical. My husband is the techie who wanted this when our old thermostat became unreliable. I’ve been so impressed. What I’ve appreciated most is that it “learns” our patterns and sets the temps accordingly. It’s saved me a lot of “oh no, did I turn it up while we were gone?” Furthermore, the ability on the app to confirm the temps in the house while away is golden.

It took me about an hour to install two of them and I am not a handy man! I read the installation instruction on the Nest website. The setup was also very simple. We have them connected to the Google Home and they have been working great so far.

We have moved houses, inheriting and installing a variety of thermostats in the last several years. After again researching options and talking to the technicians when we recently upgraded our A/C, we went with the Google Nest throughout our home. There are less expensive choices on the market, but for us Google Nest has proved to be the right option. We like both the clean design and easy user interface. We prefer to turn a dial to control the temperature than to use a touchscreen or buttons, etc.

Works great, easy install and the sun block is a nice feature. I like the fact I can see the history and see how this is saving us already. Install was easy.

Easy install instructions, and comes with some tools! Works as described and is super easy to use. I love the schedule option! Totally worth the money. And you can control it with the app! It has helped me save money on my utility bill.

No more difficult than any other simple thermostat to install, but rich with benefits. This unit is programmable, controllable from home or away, and learns how to be more efficient and ultimately save money and energy. It looks cool too, so that's a bonus.

I love the Nest…. Easy setup.. change the temperature from anywhere… the red and blue controls light up to show whether heating or cooling is taking place.

Love being able to control the thermostat from my phone and google assistant. Saves you from getting out of bed on nights when you want to change temp. Very easy to install and comes with tools needed.

This thermostat was very easy to install, even comes with the screwdriver. The system is perfect for managing your homes energy and I especially love the ability to adjust the system from my phone.
