We purchased the Nest thermostat for our beach home so we could control the HVAC remotely, but now we are considering one for our primary home as well! This device not only can be controlled remotely, via a phone app, it will learn your heating and cooling patterns! If you go to bed and do not set it to "your" normal sleeping temperature, it will set it for you and reset it to the normal temperature you would maintain during the day! Terrific!

Great look. Easy to use. Learning feature is perfect. Gen 3 is the way to go. Use it without the mount for a cleaner look.

The nest was easy to install. Some of the functions could use improvement. My unit runs much longer after reaching target cooling temp. . Seems as though the ambient temperature on the display is not very sensitive. I do not like the fact that in order to run the fan only, it automatically turns the system on even with a dedicated wire for fan, and for a timed duration. there are dashes in between temperature settings but yet Fahrenheit displays only whole numbers. The optional temperature sensors can not average the temperature and use that as the ambient temperature. The off site control of the unit via the nest app is the biggest advantage.

I upgraded to this Nest from a non-programmable thermostat. It was dead simple to install, and the menus are all intuitive enough to use without an owner's manual. I have most of the bells and whistles activated, and I'm starting to see the evidence of what it has "learned". Additionally, my thermostat is located in the warmest part of my home, and the Nest's narrower temperature tolerances keep the living space at a more consistent temperature than my old thermostat.

Looks nice on the wall. If you want a thermostat that makes you feel special and says hello every time you walk by, this is the one. It like to learn your habits and then tell you how it thinks you should live comfortably. It’s kinda like you’re married to it. You tell it you want 68 then it decides no I want 72. Overall pretty good thermostat if you don’t mind being told what you want.

I am happy that I bought nest thermostat and love all the features especially look and feel and control any where.

I like the fact that I can check my thermostat from anywhere and make changes if I need to. For the most part it works pretty well. The app sometimes doesn't report the location correctly and it gets a little goofy. Sometimes it can't figure out whether or not you're home or away. They put out and update a while ago so you could add users and I thought that might help but it didn't. An example would be that my wife leaves for work before I do but even though we are both signed into the nest app under different users it see that she is gone and sets it to away but I am still home and it doesn't see I'm there. I have noticed a lower usage of heat and ac on average and that is good because my bill has gone down enough to make it worth the purchase.
