Ease of Setup will depend on the unit you are replacing- however the supporting walkthrough is very helpful. If you are a DIYer, then you can complete the install in 30mins. The unit looks great- awesome upgrade! The only issue I’ve faced is with the spinning control not being smooth all the time. Controlling home temp is very easy, and being able to do so while away from your home is amazing. You can setup your preferences by day, time, and the unit is definitely smart. I would buy 2 if I had a dual zone AC system! Home upgrade must have.

As a DAD with Thermostat anxiety the Nest gives me the security that if ANYONE touches the Thermostat, I can drop it back to the cost saving mode it should be at. The ease of use, the reminders to change the air filter is a DADS dream when it comes to Thermostat control. Very easy install made me look like a professional to may family and all the praise that goes with it. I would highly recommend this to any DAD out there who's job is keeping Heating and A/C cost under control to get one of these. The app let's me adjust the temp....even when I'm not there. FYI if you have a wife who has hot flashes, all advice above is null and void. ENJOY!

I've been wanting a smart thermostat for a few years now but my system didn't allow use of one. I found out i was able to updated the control panel on the furnace to accommodate. I was about to purchase the 2nd generation Nest when that same day they announced the 3rd generation. My friends and family all haves Nests and they are great. This 3rd generation is a big improvement. The large face, the large numbers, the farsight feature, all big improvements. $250 is a big expensive but i believe they are well worth it. Time will tell as i have numbers from the previous 2 years to compare with. Also...easy to install, easy to work. Great app.

I had a Honeywell connected thermostat that just kept losing wireless connection and after a year it decided it did not want to cool my system anymore, so i decided i wanted to upgrade to the nest. On opening the box just the way it was packed you know you have a quality item and has nice weight to the device also The instruction on how to install was quite good and easy to follow, the only issue was the sticky labels were not tooo good and kept slipping of so be careful, i took a picture after i labeled just in case. the nest has a plastic surface that is 3/4 covering the glass that you might think needs to be peeled off but is actually part of the device surface , i checked online and is teh only way i found out not to touch it. once installed going through the menu, off course you need wireless connection and to download the app, but you can do this without as i connected after the unit was setup and installed. after connection and running it was easy to use from the app, don't forget this is a learning device. there was some lag time between switching the cooling system on and off but after a few days it git better or i just did not notice anymore, overall this is a great device and good value for money for the future.

I did a lot of research on these smart thermostats before purchasing this style. I have a heat only boiler that has 5 zones, and this particular one, was the only one that was pretty much assured that it would work with my system. It is a 2 wire system, with no common wire. I was able to hook these up with no issues what so ever! They charge fine, and there was no need for the extra adapter that could be purchased seperately, to hook to the boiler. So far, I have installed 5 of these thermostats, to upgrade our old school Honeywell mercury thermostats. Do your research, but this thermostat is wonderful! I love that I can control my thermostat through the Nest or Google Home app, so no worrying if you leave, and wonder if you remembered to turn down the heat. I also have them installed in our rental units, and I can make sure that the tenant didn’t leave the heat on 70, and leave for days or leave for a 12 hour shift. You can control all the thermostats from one app, so it is wonderful! I would highly suggest these thermostats for anyone that want to make their home a little smarter.

I have changed all the thermostats in the house with these. The installation is relatively easy once you successfully install the first one. I love the physical look and design. I also like the ease of use. You can work it manually or digitally from your enabled devises. I have yet to experience any material benefits outside of what I listed above. I’m curious to see the cost savings over time. I’m also curious to see how effectively home/away works. All in all, it’s a small price to pay for helping to save the planet one house at a time.

I have only had it for a couple weeks but it is so easy to use it and it works so well that you wonder how you got along without it. I have it a condo in Suttons Bay and I can not only see and change the temp with my smartphone but many other pieces of info are transmitted with it. It learns what your programming needs are without having to do anything else and it fiqures out what your best temp is for every hour of the day. It also turns on when you go by and it shows you how long it will take to get to a certain temp that you set. Pretty neat device

This is a fantastic thermostat. The setup and installation are absurdly simple, and comprehensively documented. Even with one small difference in my setup from standard, the online documentation had a solution and I was directed there by the device itself during install. What thoughtful design that is. As for its "intelligent functionality", the Away feature took about a week to learn my habits and the device does a better job than my old unit (programmable) did at keeping things at the temperature it says it is holding. Haven't had a chance to fully rely on the A/C yet, as it's winter, but the heater and fan have been without issue. The A/C was tested and worked during install, however. We really adore the way it "greets" you as you walk by, too. It's non-intrusive, silent, and helpful to see the current status of the system at a glance.

I did need help getting this thermostat installed. However, it is easy to use. I like that it can connect to your phone allowing you to remotely turn on your thermostat. This is especially helpful on these recent hot summer days to come back to a cool house. Alternatively, you can set a scheduled timer for the thermostat too.

The Neat is a great learning thermostat. Compared to the standard thermostats this has many more options built in, not including the fact that you can control it in the app from anywhere you have internet service. We love the ease of use compared to other smart thermostats and it just looks great. It’s spendy, but a quality product.

We had a Nest thermostat at our previous home and really liked it. When we bought our new home, it had a Honeywell smart thermostat installed, but we really didn't like the way it worked. We replaced it with a Nest since we knew we liked those. It was very easy to install, even for someone that's not too savvy with electrical. As with all Nest products, it looks great, it integrates seamlessly with our Nest Hub, and heats/cools the house perfectly. These are a bit expensive, but you can regularly find rebates if you check with your state or local utility provider.

Look, let's just cut to the chase: the Nest thermostat is not the BEST smart thermostat on the market, but it is a really good one and it is the best looking one on the market. Honestly, as long a smart thermostat is pretty good at what it does, I want it to look attractive, what with being a wall-wart and all. If it's going to be there hanging on my wall, it needs to look good as well as function well. The Nest does that. It has most of the standard smart-thermostat stuff: You can set up a programmed schedule of when you want the temperature to change; it is easy to manually change the temperature through the innovative spinning case; it pays attention to your manual adjustments and will learn and adjust your scheduled program based on what you actually do; it tries to tell when you're not at home and reduce energy usage at those times; the Nest app allows you to access and adjust your Nest thermostat remotely on your phone. If that were it, I'd give it five stars and call it excellent. But, there are a few minor quibbles that prevent me from doing that. Quibble 1: The Nest thermostat doesn't integrate with Apple's HomeKit (I have no idea about other smart-stuff systems). I've heard rumors that Nest is working on adding HomeKit support, but seeing as how Nest is owned by Google, I'm not going to hold my breath for this. Quibble 2: The function that can tell if you're home or not isn't perfect. The thermostat is in a fixed location. It can only monitor the immediate area around the thermostat. If you aren't in the room in your house or business with the Nest thermostat, it may not think you are home, even though you are, and switch into away mode. I wish that Nest had some sort of remote sensor product that could be connected to the Thermostat that could be placed in other strategic locations in the home to handle this (and potentially read temperatures in other locations as well). 3. Nest is owned by Google and all the data-collection concerns that may come with that. Take that for what it's worth and make your own decision if that is important to you or not (for me, it's not—I don't care if Google knows when my thermostat changes temperature—but for others this may be a concern). Don't take this review the wrong way. I really like the Nest. It's good. It hits most of the expectations I have of a smart thermostat. I just wish it could be great.

Im loving it, specially being able to control it away from home. Its easy to use and easy to install, the one downside is the eco option. It might be that my device is still learning, but it keeps adjusting to temps that i dont want. I do like the away feature and at home. Specially when it detects that im home, but it wont keep it to the settings i want. The suggested settings keeps over writting my suggested settings. Other then that, it works great

This is the second nest product I had bought. I would say this was easier to install than the nest (hello) doorbell. Works super well with Google home and the nest app it’s very easy to understand. You should definitely buy one of the sensors to goes with us and place it upstair if your thermostat is downstairs. This allows you to set the thermostat to the coldest room in the winter or the hottest room in the summer. Overall, a solid product. You may even get a rebate from your local utility as well to offset the cost.

This is by far one of the best smart home product I've bought. It's easy to install, easy to use, and it looks great good on the wall. The best part of this equipment is the ease of use with the rotating bezel and how it remembers and adjust to your needs. Also, I like the fact that you can adjust the temperature through the app, if you're away, and through a smart speaker like Alexa or google nest. If you're looking in buying a smart thermostat, I beleieve this would be a good choice to buy since it does everything a regular thermostat does and plus more!

For most people this would be a very easy and simple installation - there is even a screwdriver included in the package. However, the installers of my new furnace a few years ago clipped some wires so that I had to call someone to figure it out and install it. Not the product's fault, and I imagine 95% of purchasers won't have this issue. Anyway, now that it's been running for several weeks I couldn't be happier. I especially like that I can use the app on my phone to adjust the temperature in case I forget before leaving home, and it even learns my habits and turns the system on and off based on typical "away" travel. And even the design is stylish. Highly recommended.

It is fairly easy to install and figure out how it works. It is very convenient as to being able to control it remotely and at the place it is installed. It takes very little space and it adds to the decor of the place where it is used.

Beyond easy to install, simple to use. Not quite sure how well it learns our habits because we tinker with the temp ourselves. Remote control through iPhone is terrific. Great looking as well.

I have been wanting a nest thermostat for awhile but couldn’t justify the price. Found it on sale so made the plunge and got it. Installation is pretty straightforward but if you do run into questions on wiring nest will help you out and have you up and running in no time. Now I don’t know about saving energy but being able to see your usage is a great feature that I use a lot and it will learn your habits. When I’m not home I usually have my system off but when I’m getting ready to head home from work I open app turn on and start cooling. When I get home it’s nice and comfortable. Yes I’m one who isn’t going to cool the house and waste energy when I’m not there. Of course winter months will be a different story. When you leave the house you can set it up to switch to eco mode which is a great feature as well. It’s a great thermostat but it is an investment but I highly recommend it. I also recommend purchasing room sensors as well if your thermostat placement isn’t in the best location.

So far, so good! We have noticed less stress on our HVAC, since this seems to regulate the system more efficiently. Installation was easy and took 10 minutes with a screw driver and the included parts/instructions. I would definitely make sure Nest is compatible with your home wiring prior to purchasing. The included backing covers up the old unpainted wall that the previous thermostat left exposed. The aesthetics are much more appealing than our old thermostat. All controls are simple and the screen is easy to see in light or dark. I am eager to see how much this will save on our heating/cooling bills.
