After reading many reviews, I was torn between a Nest and an Ecobee smart thermostat. Admittedly, I’m not a fan of anything Google, and didn’t want to go with the Nest for that reason, but ended up buying it after struggling to program an Ecobee thermostat in our vacation rental unit. The reviews all said that Nest had a more user friendly design and I totally agree. All I have to do is walk up and turn the dial to adjust the temperature. I have yet to discover all that the learning mode can do. The Ecobee thermostat required me to manually push a couple of buttons and then hold set the temp to hold for a set number of hours. It was too confusing. The Nest allows me to easily change the temperature at anytime via my cell phone, or just walking up to it and turning the dial. I got the copper one. It looks great on my wall. My energy provider gave me a 75.00 rebate making this smart thermometer a pretty smart deal after all.

I bought this because there was a rebate going on from GA Power. I had already been looking to replace my 15 year old digital thermostats and the rebates pushed me to going ahead and doing it sooner than later. Enough about the process.. I bought two and have to say that these have exceeded my expectation. They look AND work great, I can control them remotely and track how often your heat/cooling runs. While I've only had these for a month, I can't necessarily say they've saved me money, but the temperature in the house stays much more consistent than when my old thermostats were in control. Installation and setup were easy.

Got this one for upstairs in addition to the one we have already down. Easy install, added it to the app and works great.

Received excellent one-on-one service in Best Buy Appliance Dept. Employee walked me to the unit and back to his desk; confirmed I had 15 days to return if it didn't work with my new Central A/C; and completed the sale. Installation was stupid simple, since I went to the NEST website before Best Buy to confirm the existing wiring to my new dumb thermostat was compatible. Anyone reading this, please do that before purchase and save yourself a possible headache. Created NEST account online, installed iPhone NEST app and linked thermostat to account and app. Then linked iPhone LUTRON Caserta app to it since I have a LUTRON bridge.

I have installed Nest thermostats in two houses now and they are great! They are solid, well made thermostats that not only perform a variety of functions , but they look good too. They are easy to install if you follow the instructions, and they really do learn your preferences, allowing the heat/air to run to your desired temperatures when you are home and revert to your pre-set defaults when you are away. Being internet /cell phone connected, they tell you the outside weather forecast and the digital or analog clocks keep you on time! They pay for themselves as they manage your energy usage.

Simply said, an impulse buy that I knew could be returned, however, it was installed within 15 minutes, programmed with its basic features understood in another 15, and left on its own from there. While it requires a bit of user input the first week -- most of it done from a simple and quite usable app available for both iPhone and Android smartphones -- after that, only minor adjustments will be done from time to time to alter what might be considered the household's usual schedule. It allows an unprecedented degree of control, from close or afar, of one's temp settings. Crank the heat up 30 minutes before hopping out of bed on a brisk morning, or have it activate the fan for a preset time period in the middle of the night with the same ease without getting up and fumbling around with the blasted thing in the dark. It provides an accurate record for each day, indicating when the heat or a/c was activated, whether by the thermostat or a household member, to what degree, and for how long it was on. There is simply no way this can't ultimately pay for itself after the rebates and ultimate savings on the heat and cooling bills. Highly recommendable, and one of the few products that I would really have to scratch around to find something to call a shortcoming.

I am not an electrician by any means. I followed the instructions BUT I have a dual heating system which normally requires “professional installation.” So, I hooked everything up exactly how it said and it was not working correctly. I called Nest and they completely walked me through everything and they were the most friendly customer service reps I have ever talked to. System works great now and I love that I can control it from my phone when I’m at work, on vacation, etc. it has learned my schedule up to this point and has definitely saved me some money.

This item was purchased with a $50 Black Friday discount, but the discounts from the power & gas company alone would be enough. Installation is simple, so is the setup. The app is something is love most of all. It knows when people in the household are home and adjust temperature automatically. Same when people leave. The amount of data available to you - and the fact that I can adjust the temperature while I'm 1/2 a country away is just awesome. I look forward to really saving money with it. Apparently there are multiple finishes available, but the stainless steel one fits well into my home

I like the NEST Learning Thermostat so much that I have 5 of them. The primary reason is that (1) it is very easy to use (2) it brands in nicely with the room wall (3) controls remotely with iPad, iPhone, ... (4) very easy to setup scheduling (5) energy saving via smart sensing,,, I did setup all 5 thermostats by myself... however, for those who may not be familiar with the fundamental thermostat theory... it is better to call professional to install. The bottom line - I saved a lot of money on the heating bill!!!

The 3rd generation Nest Thermostat was easy to install and works perfectly with my heating system. It's too cold right now to check it with the air conditioning compressor. It lights up big and bright as you walk by, and you have several choices of which display lights up. The default is just the set temperature in big bright numbers but you also have other choices such as an analog clock with a slowly sweeping second hand. Just click the face and you can see other information such as the inside humidity and the temperature outside. A feature that I did NOT use is letting the device program itself. I turned off that feature in the setup and it was easy to select the times I wish the heat to turn up and down, as you would with a standard programmable thermostat although you can do it on the Internet as well as the device itself, and yes, everyone's favorite feature is you can turn the temp up or down from your bed, or from your car if you're on the way home.

My daughter originally bought a Nest for her home and that's when I saw how slick it worked (she even let me have app control!). When my husband and I got home he installed it using online videos and enclosed booklet. (There's even a special screwdriver tool enclosed in package.) Installation took about 15 minutes, then another 10 minutes to set up with our home wifi. Because it works so well, when we got a vacation home that was one of the 1st items that was installed. I like it because I can use my app to turn on the cool/heat on our way to the condo so it will be comfortable right away.

Great product! This Thermostat learns your routines and learns when and how much to raise or lower temperatures based on history as well as outside temperatures. It also knows when you leave or get home and sets temperature based on preference. It can be controlled by phone which you can control from anywhere just incase you forget to turn off when away on vacation.

I was prompted to purchase the Nest because of the rebates provided by my gas and electric providers. It was an easy install and has been even easier to use. Features I appreciate include being able to review my usage, the reminder to change the furnace filter, and being able to program each day individually. It is also nice to be able to adjust the thermostat while away from home or just on a different floor of the home. One piece of advice, be sure to set your "away" settings or disable the function otherwise someone home while you are away is in for unpleasant temps.

I wanted to upgrade from a programmable thermostat that was usually a complete pain to program and maintain. Each season needed a complete reprogramming, and every time I needed to make a change I had to clone the change into each day so the settings were consistent. No More! The Nest thermostat is really easy to program and it learns what I like without having to program each day's multiple settings. Plus it senses when I'm not on the floor and sets the temps for me. And it reads the outside temperatures and uses that to adjust the temperature inside. Very cool! And it looks very nice as well.

This here is a neat deal. Energy efficient if you want to be. But the best feature I think is I can change the temp from my phone. My wife and I will oftentimes be sitting on the couch and she will say “ why in the world is it so cold in here?!” To which I say “it’s not it’s perfect”. Alas she thinks it is not. To keep my sweet summer dove happy I can turn it up right then and there. Don’t have to get up, she sees me doing leading her to believe I care for her comfort. Worth the purchase. Easy to install. User friendly. Happy wife, happy life.

I've been wanting to install smart thermostats for a while now. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to use these since my older home doesn't have a C wire. Installation was straightforward and simple. I installed 3 thermostats and they all work perfectly. I have them synced with Alexa voice activation so I can adjust the temperature with my voice. Nest app was a little slow getting set up but it works just fine now. Great product and looks much better than the old school ones I had before.

We are very happy with the Google Nest. It was very easy to install (I did go to Youtube to get a better understanding of the wiring) and only took about 30 minutes to install. We typically keep the thermostat off because of our mild climate but when the temperature does get extreme, the wifi capability is great when we want the house temperature set comfortably before we get home. The nest is very intuitive to operate and looks great on the wall.

I did need help getting this thermostat installed. However, it is easy to use. I like that it can connect to your phone allowing you to remotely turn on your thermostat. This is especially helpful on these recent hot summer days to come back to a cool house. Alternatively, you can set a scheduled timer for the thermostat too.
