Great thermostat but the black finish is different

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Not sure what the hardware differences are between the various generations, and I bought this thinking the color/finish would be consistent w the black of prior generations. It is NOT, the newest gen thermostat looks more gunmetal-ish than pure black...ended up having to buy 2 of these just so I can have the same finish for upstairs and downstairs.

I've been hesitating about buying "smart" ANYTHING for my home over security issues and "The Internet of Things." But Nest has stated that they have the same concern and are continuously working to keep their products secure.
