Posted .Hey there, Brian. Thanks for your feedback. The Nest Learning Thermostat changes the temperature automatically due to some factors like schedule, learned habits (auto schedule), and Home/Away Assist which makes your thermostat go to ECO mode. Thankfully, you have an option to use it as a traditional programmable thermostat, and you can manually set the temperature and create your schedules for the thermostat to follow. You can turn off the Auto Schedule feature, disable the Home/Assist, and clear the existing schedules by selecting Settings > Reset > Schedule > Reset. I also like how you can set them temp from your couch! Or on the go! Schedules also help to keep from coming into a hot/cold house! This is the second one we have bought for a family member for christmas!

Our first NEST was included with our electric company contract and it was a great way to monitor our energy consumption in a very hot and muggy city of Houston, TX. Years later, this 3rd generation was purchased to accompany our new AC system. There are new monitoring options allowing for sucking humidity out of the air and eeking the most out of the recycled air in the system. We are in an older home that is quite energy efficient and this tech would be doing us much better if we were in a newer home. I definitely suggest!

I haven’t seen a huge enough difference on the bill at the end of the month to mention anything. Also, some slight aggravation from it being intuitive or learning. It’ll change temperature at times when we don’t want it too... Not a huge deal.
