Set up was easy and simple to follow. I love the way the device automatically adjusts to my temp habits and takes into account the temps outside. I can also easily see trends through the app which is a plus! The price is kind Of steep but I ended up getting two of them a lot cheaper due to a price match. Essentially everything you need is in the package. Great buy and I’m loving them!

I have not seen a heating bill yet but I think we will see a savings. What we like is after the first week it learned our routine and automatically adjusts the temperature before we get home, at night and away for the day. What is even better is both my wife and I have it on our phones (Apple & Android) and we adjust it if our routine changes like turning it on before we get home early or tell it when we are away. We have to travel over the weekends for kids sports and it is no longer a worry when we are driving down the road to see if someone remembered to turn down the heat. My wife is not a techie (I am) but she loves the Nest for the simple usage on her phone. Another trick I learned is when I feel a little cold in the house and the heater is not running, I figure it is just a cold spot so from my computer or phone, I run the fan for 15 minutes and it circulates the air allowing the temperature to equalize (especially in the hallway where our thermostat is) and the heater to go on if needed. The last thing I want to mention is customer service. The wiring was not correct and they stay on the phone with you until it is correct. Follow the instructions to take a picture before you disconnect the old one. When our heater broke (circuit board) they never once blamed the heater, they kept working with us to diagnose the issue even putting on an advanced technician until he could absolutely say it was not the thermostat. The only issue was it took about 3 hours between hold times and getting the advanced tech to diagnose.

I read a lot of reviews before finally purchasing the Nest thermostat. In all, it was about a year between thinking about buying and actually buying it. I have an Xfinity Home security system and it was important to me that the thermostat I chose would work seamlessly with my system. The install was very easy. I chose to repaint the wall it was mounted on so that I would have the clean modern look of just the round "eye" of the thermostat and not use the rectangular baseplate. Wiring was very easy by following the instructions to the letter, especially using the included labels to label the wires before removing them from the old thermostat. The only issue that I had was this. After wiring and installing on the baseplate, there was no power to the screen when I turned the breaker back on. I searched for a solution online and finally came across a troubleshooting guide on the Nest website. It stated that in most cases the "C" wire is not needed by the Nest thermostat. So, I removed the "C" wire and it worked just fine. It would be VERY helpful if Nest would just include this important tidbit in the Installation Guide. Controlling the Nest from either the Nest app or the Xfinity Home app is a breeze. While the Nest thermostat does its best to learn your temp routines throughout the first few days, the app allows you to make minor adjustments or completely reprogram the settings. The Nest thermostat is worth every penny. I only wish I had bought it sooner.

I bought this, to replace our old programmable thermostat, and I'm glad I made the change. The programmable thermostat was cumbersome to change the programming, and not very responsive to touches. With the Nest thermostat, the navigation is much easier, and intuitive. I can also pull out my phone, and easily make adjustments, even if I'm not at home. Some of the additional features I like: - It also has the ability to learn your habits, and eventually, it will create it's own schedule (if you allow it, in the settings) - It has a proximity sensor, so the screen goes dark, when you aren't near, but as you approach, it changes the amount of details, displayed - You can set it to display other items, instead of the current temp. For instance, we have it set to show the current temp outside, which also shows the weather predictions, for the rest of the day, as you get closer Installation was just as easy as any other thermostat. If anything, it was a little easier, since it uses spring loaded terminals, rather than wrapping the wires around a screw. My only complaint is that I would like the screen to be touch controlled, rather than dial the outer ring to an option, then 'click' the front face, by pushing it in. Not a big deal though, since I have all the same options, through the app on my phone.

This was the second Nest in our house, one upstairs, one downstairs. SUPER SIMPLE installation... it literally take more time to see up wifi (because my wifi password is so long) than it takes to instal on the wall. Very easy to use, works with my Wink home automation, and love to be able to turn off the A/C and heat from work since apparently no one else in my house is capable of doing so!

We had this installed about a week ago. I downloaded the app immediately. The thermostat works wonderfully and is pretty easy to figure out. It's still good to read the directions though to understand how it works. Being able to adjust the thermostat from bed or anywhere else is so cool. We received rebate money from our energy ($75) and our gas company ($50) which was helpful.

Replaced an older thermostat with the Nest. Looks beautiful to me. Was very easy to install and set up following the instructions and using the supplied components. Even came with a nifty screw driver. I love the wifi features of this device and the ability to check status and control climate remotely. Also like the fact that I was able to easily integrate this to my home security system.

Excellent and well designed thermostat. Easy to install and set up. I really like to be able to adjust the temperature with out leaving the bed or the couch. I have only been using it for a couple of weeks, so, we'll see how much money it will save us.

Pros: 1. Easy to install (don't follow the schematics in the paper instruction. Use the NEST website for the correct wiring. 2. Cool design and operation (love the turn knob) 3. App on iphone works with no issue. Like the Usage history and why energy consumption is high on that day. 4. Auto away mode works. It has a motion sensor that turns on the display when you walk by. Areas of improvement: 1. Heater/air-con only turns on 2-3 degrees above/below set points. Have to manually compensate when setting my range. 2. Paper instruction wiring is misleading especially on RC or C wires. Use the website to get your correct wiring. 3. Expensive toy

The Nest Thermostat is an exceptional product; super easy to install, beautiful on the wall (especially relative to the white plastic stat I had previously) and above all, effective at knowing when my family is home/not home and regulating the temperature(s) accordingly. Would recommend this product to anyone.

I have been very happy with the Nest Thermostat overall. It is my second purchase in the Nest family after my Nest Cam. Installation was very easy and I had no knowledge going in installing thermostats. The design is thin and modern with an intuitive UI. The only problem I have had with Nest is the Auto-Away feature has been wonky ever since I installed the Nest Thermostat as the Cam and Thermostat don't seem to talk to each other very well. For example, when I get home, my AC might start but the Cam does not turn off even though the app recognizes that I am home. Hopefully some of these bugs will get worked out.

Very easy to install and very easy to use. I haven't had it long enough to know if it will save me money, but I can tell it is "learning". The app makes it easy to use and it is great to be able to change the temperature from in bed or across the country.

I upgraded my thermostat and am glad I did. It is a nice product to add to the home. Very easy to use and it has helped me save energy. Design is simple and classic. It is easy to install. It functions well with my phone and I can adjust the temperature from any where.

CONS: Installation instructions are not the most helpful. However, I received help via telephone from a pro and it was easy to install. PROS: Easy to use. Works great. Looks Great. A MUST have.

I've had a programmable thermostat for over 10 years and when I got it, the savings were obvious but the family had difficulty operating it, this new NEST thermostat solved that problem and more. It's easy to operate but the ability to manipulate it remotely is the biggest benefit. Easy to install and setup, I can't imagine a better option.

Hardware Very Attractive High Tech, if not Retro pleasing appearance. Hopefully the NEST App needs to be more intuitive like the replaced multiple "3M Radio Thermostats which operated HVAC & schedules easy with no learning curve at all for years. I am Hopeful NEST Software Development will take a peek at this relevant 3M Radio Thermostat defunct software "App No Longer Supported" as my only reason i had to replace existing no longer working multiple 3M Radio Thermostats with internet Access via it’s App. Radio Thermostat App was real easy peasy intuitive for multiple 3M Thermostats, now NEST replaced still trying to figure out scheduling of Multiple NEST of different locations for online control

Love my nest thermostat. Works with my 2 wire furnace. I like the design of this model better than the new one. I like how solid and well built it is. I can change my settings from anywhere I have cellphone service. Easy to program.

Works great! I purchased this to upgrade in my home and save on my electric bill. It has been helpful, was easy to install, and easy to use. I had a Nest thermostat previously as well as a Honeywell smart thermostat and preferred the Nest one overall.

I had to replace my old Gen 1 Nests due to a surge from lightning. I don’t see any difference betweeen these and my old ones because the the new features aren’t really helpful to me. However, these are reliable, always connected and I can easily change any settings from my phone. I don’t use the learn option. I set a schedule and let the schedule run everything. I think the learn option would be too much to have to think about (constantly changing the temperature). One of the best options is the home/away setting and using our cell phones to alert the system when we are home or away. When our cell phones leave the WiFi network the thermostats know we are away and goes into energy saving and coming back on when one of our phones is back on the wood network. I can’t compare it to other thermostats, but this one has been great, just as the first generation.
