I do not use the eco function due to it will think you are away if you are downstairs for long periods or time.

Easy to set up. It appears you can’t set up a nest account now since the Google purchase of Nest.

Set it and forget it type tech, and keeps the temps perfect inside. Also nice rebates from PG&E too. Was skeptical, but great device to have.

Full control and peace of mind

I rent an apartment in an older three family home with an oil burner and radiator system. This combination doesn't really give me the best heating efficiency for my money. I installed the compatible Nest thermostat and now I can turn on the heat precisely from my smart phone saving me money while not wasting fuel. The Nest thermostat is a good reliable unit and has been working flawlessly for me this winter. Wish I went with my instincts several years ago I would have more money in my pocket.

They had a variety of recommendations but after reviewing features and price I went with NEST. The excellent installation support was a pleasant surprise!!

Easy to set up even for hydrothermal 2 stage cool and heat. Had to return the E-model, but this one was only 50$ more.

The thermostat help me monitor people moving temp during the day and allow me a tool to review usage patterns. The programming feature is top notch.

My thermostat is at the top of my stairs. So ot often thinks I am not home because i dont walk past it enough. I should have bought the cheaper model.

Posted .Hi Thomas, we value your feedback about the Nest Learning Thermostat, and we’re sorry to hear that it often thinks you’re not at home even when you are.
Home/Away Assist uses data from your Nest product’s sensors and your phone’s Wi-Fi and cellular location data to know when someone is home. For the best experience, make sure that everyone with shared access and control of your Nest products in the app is also using their phone’s location. You may want to change some of your Home/Away Assist settings to help it do a better job. Instead of the thermostat’s activity sensor, you can just use your phone location to figure out whether you’re home or not. To do this:
- Open the Nest app.
- Tap Settings icon.
- Select Home/Away Assist.
- Choose What decides if you’re home.
- Select Use phone location.
Tap the switch to expand the menu. This will show a list of all the people (if you have any) with shared control of your Nest home. While you can check whose phones are being used to help with Home/Away Assist, you can't enable or disable location for any phone except your own. Everyone else will have to change these settings on their own phone in the Nest app.
- Tap your name.
- Tap the switch to enable or disable the phone location for Home/Away Assist.
