The away feature has "bitten" us once or twice when we were gone and the house got overly warm. We liked our original one so much we got one for our garage apartment.

It faults out for not charging so disconnects from WiFi or RC wire connection broken and my original thermostat is same wire set up and have not had any problems other than it’s not WiFi.

Nest thermostats connectivity issues could be related to power issues, which may occur when your system wires can't deliver enough power to keep the thermostats charged up. The thermostat uses the voltage from your system’s wires to keep its internal battery charged, so if the power from your system is insufficient, the thermostat will run on battery for a while but will turn off features like Wi-Fi to preserve battery life before it must turn off completely.
Here’s are some troubleshooting steps that might help in the event that your thermostat has connectivity issues:
- Restarting your thermostat will refresh your connection. You can restart it by going to Settings > Reset > Restart.
- Unplug your Modem/Router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Check for sources of Wi-Fi interference (cordless phones, baby monitors, microwaves, bluetooth devices, wireless video equipment)
- Check your battery level, press the thermostat ring to bring up the Quick View menu Settings > Technical Info > Power. Look for the number labeled Battery. If the battery charge is below 3.6V, there might be a power issue.
- If this is related to a power issue, disconnect the thermostat from your Wi-Fi. Check if the thermostat maintains a charge after.

I had them installed by a Nest Pro via a reference from the Nest website. The installation went without a hitch and it only took about 1 hour. Since installation, the thermostats developed a schedule and are now adjusting the temperature and saving energy. They both also communicate with my two Nest Protect smoke/carbon monoxide units for added security. This is money well worth spent. As an additional bonus, if you have them installed by a Nest Pro, the warranty gets extended for an additional three years.

Once installed (which is very easy) the app makes everything easy from setting the schedule and recognizing when you aren't at home so it saves you money by turning the heat/ (a/c) off. great product I highly recommend the nest.

If I knew that during my purchase I might of bought something to work with what I had and there is thermostats out there that don't require the third wire or c wire. Other than that I do like it.

I enjoy all of the smart features and the feedback on the system. Sometimes I would come home and it was 80 degrees and it said 2.5+ hours to cool to 70

Easy to use and setup

I did have to shut off the learning feature as I would come home from work and my room was at 86 degrees but I’m pretty sure that as I learn more I will figure these things out.

Perfect thermostat

It was easy to install. It had all the components to install the nest including the screw driver. You can control the nest with the app. Everything was easy, from setting your temperature settings to use the home/away settings. Furthermore, you can see your history on how much your AC was running. No batteries for the nest as it is powered by the furnace. I only had mine for a few weeks so I cannot compare how much I saved energy wise.
