The Nest thermostat I purchased had a defective base unit. DIY install time 60 minutes, finally called Nest and spent 90 minutes more with them until they conceded it was a defective product. First they tried to say my installation was incorrect, then they wanted me to hire a licensed electrician, finally after more time and testing they admitted the unit was defective. Warranty covered the replacement part, shipped it to me and the 2nd install was less than 30 minutes since the unit worked. A lot of time wasted and I did not feel that Nest valued my time.

Works pretty well, I recommend. You can also get rebates after.

Best Buy sold this to me when the Ecobee needed hardwiring at my house. It was sold at full 4 days after it was no longer supported by Google & has done nothing but malfunction. It is under Google Nest warranty but no number or method of contact exists & now I am still paying for a thermostat that will not connect to WiFi & app. Just praying it does not go out completely with temps in the 20s right now …Best Buy should be ashamed

Warranty Support from Google/Nest is very poor. Very difficult to get a simple warranty issue taken care of. I like the product, I own 6 of them but the support is poor and difficult. In my case the Nest Thermostat will not stay connected to the base plate due to a faulty design or parts in how it stay connected to the base plate. The Nest is kind of top heavy and the connection is at the bottom so when you press on it when needed for programming or changes it pops off the base plate. This is the first I have owned to do that. All I asked for when I talked to support is a replacement while it is still under warranty. I have 1 year left on the warranty and all I get is the run around from their support. I am not happy right now so it looks like I will just go buy another and return the one that does not work back to the store. It is a simple warranty issue. The last thing I want to do is install another one, I would just prefer to have it work like it suppose to.

this is a great thermostat that i highly recommend!

It does the job. My issue is that you have to turn the thermostat above 70 degrees or more for it to turn the heat on. It was 54 degrees inside our home. We had to turn the heat off in 30 minutes because it was too hot. That means the heat would keep going until it reached 70. It would be nice if you don't have to blast the heat that high for it to turn on. I'm still learning how to use it. So maybe we are missing something. It hasn't been. Cold enough to use the heat. Our home is well insulated. The true test will be when we try the AC in the summer
