Does everything it says. Be sure to hook up the common wire when you install it or run a common wire from your furnace if you don't have one already. The Nest powers itself via the Y-R wires to charge it's internal battery. If you don't run your furnace very often, the internal battery will run down, and the furnace won't run until you put a charge in the Nest via microusb. Using the common wire (blue) will provide steady 20v to the unit and thus keep the charge. Other than that, it's a solid thermostat. I like the daily usage summary. It HAS helped to keep costs down. I've probably saved 30% by scheduling and letting Nest learn our routine. Installation is straightforward and well documented. Just be sure to use the blue common wire and run one if you don't have one already.

The unit is so nice to use and so easy to setup. Connects to the wifi with ease and you can see the temputure from 25 feet away.

There is little reason NOT to install this thermostat. There was a pretty decent sale and our local utility company also has a rebate for the installation of it. Sweet. It does begin to "learn" our habits after about a week. It's great to wake up to a warmer house and have it cooler at night while sleeping. Like the idea of monitoring from basically wherever we are to ensure that the heat is on....and if it isn't, can alert a friend/neighbor to have it checked. Works with Alexa as well.

The nest works great and was easy to install. It has saved me energy. I like that it shows you the history of when the heat/air has run.

Very easy to use and smart is a good description for it. I set it up myself with minimal effort and had it going within half hour.

Best thermostat, tried 2 others and works great without running other wiring for Wi-Fi style thermostats, no issues with cycling my ac, but the eco mode can be annoying if you use it and work from home, if it doesn’t sense someone walking by it will turn the ac up on you.

Great addition for our Condo! Easy to install, and great to use from anywhere.

I call this an investment deliberately. The way the thermostat automatically picks up my presence and schedules the temperature with appropriate indicators for "eco mode" I am positive I will see an improvement in my energy bills. But even if that remained constant, the convenience of being able to adjust remotely and have it all at your fingertips is in itself money well spent! The energy company rebate for buying this just made the decision all the more easier, but highly recommended rebate or no rebate!

Never would have ever guessed I would be writing a review on my thermostat but...this is the best thermostat hands down. I moved homes and repurchased this and the savings you see in a day after installing one of these is night and day. The app is great if you forget to set the temperature and loves how it learns your schedule. Great for two stage heating and cooling as well.

I live in a two story house and my thermostat is located downstairs. It is such a great feature to be able to adjust the thermostat in bed through my iPhone instead of having to go downstairs to adjust it. I also love the fact that I can start the A/C on my way home in order to come home to a cool house. Another great thing about this thermostat is that both my power and gas company mailed me a rebate. I feel like this thermostat was well worth the price and I would recommend this to everyone.

Compared this system to many others before purchasing. Very happy with this system, works as it should and very easy to install!

Easy setup. Works well with nest app or Alexa. Haven’t used the heat yet but smooth so far.
