I bought it for its look and the overwhelmingly good feedback. But it turned out that the thermostat changed the indoor climate control so much that my family couldn't even tolerate the uncomfortable temperature control to wait for the device to learn to adapt to our like. In particular, the time rate of cooling is uncomfortable, nighttime air is not fresh which is not comfortable for sleep. I returned it.

Worked for 2 weeks and then got an error message. Pretty limited functionality. Not as customizable as you would expect from Google. For example, can even set the display to always show the temperature. Got an Ecobee instead, which I like much better.

The first thing you notice are the bigclear Numbers. No getting six inches away to see what the temperature is!

Installed and setup two units about two weeks ago. after a few days the Nest was cycling the heating automatically as desired.

for home automation I think this really fits the bill

We haven't received our electric bill yet but we are hoping it's lower since the nest adjusts while we're away! So far we love it!

Much much better than the first Nest I have. The motion detection works at greater range and the screen is considerably bigger.

Initially setup with a nest account , then notified I had to sign with Google. After using the nest for 3 months, it asked for a nest password which didn’t work , but told me to migrate to google. Signed in to google, however that didn’t work and I cannot control the thermostat with the app

The auto scheduler is not as smart as you'd like it to be.

I like the big numbers on the thermostat. I find the thermostat to work on its own and change the temperature even though the learning settings are off. Unable to fix this. I wish I had bought the regular thermostat

Great when it works, but I've had to RMA it with Google 3 separate times now over the span of 6 months. I don't think the longevity or build quality is there, and would hesitate to recommend it to anyone that is paying full price. The first time the onboard Wi-Fi chip fried, the second and third time the display started ghosting and looked fuzzy. This fourth replacement is going strong for the better part of 10 months now, so fingers crossed that it doesn't die outside of the warranty window. If you do decide to purchase, check if your state/county/city has a rebate/discount program for smart thermostats! Would normally be a 1-star from me, but given that it's great when not broken, and that Google RMA'd it for now, I gave it 2-stars.
