It’s a thermostat. Just need a house to go with it in this housing market.

The Nest thermostat I purchased had a defective base unit. DIY install time 60 minutes, finally called Nest and spent 90 minutes more with them until they conceded it was a defective product. First they tried to say my installation was incorrect, then they wanted me to hire a licensed electrician, finally after more time and testing they admitted the unit was defective. Warranty covered the replacement part, shipped it to me and the 2nd install was less than 30 minutes since the unit worked. A lot of time wasted and I did not feel that Nest valued my time.

Don’t buy a Nest. I bought 3 for a new house and nothing but problems. Hearing from friends and HVAC pros to avoid Nest. I had Honeywell smart Thermostats at previous house and they worked great. I am going to buy Ecobees to replace the Google ones.

It is cool and I’ve used before. But it did not install with my system. Need to return two units now...

Warranty Support from Google/Nest is very poor. Very difficult to get a simple warranty issue taken care of. I like the product, I own 6 of them but the support is poor and difficult. In my case the Nest Thermostat will not stay connected to the base plate due to a faulty design or parts in how it stay connected to the base plate. The Nest is kind of top heavy and the connection is at the bottom so when you press on it when needed for programming or changes it pops off the base plate. This is the first I have owned to do that. All I asked for when I talked to support is a replacement while it is still under warranty. I have 1 year left on the warranty and all I get is the run around from their support. I am not happy right now so it looks like I will just go buy another and return the one that does not work back to the store. It is a simple warranty issue. The last thing I want to do is install another one, I would just prefer to have it work like it suppose to.

I am not happy about the installation. I have had a service person here twice to correctly set the device and it is still not right. I have one of the same brand in another home that can be set to my needs.I do not want the device overriding what I set it to. No one seems to know how to do that from the Geek Squad.

Because Nest is now owned by Google, installation is complicated. To add family members, they MUST have a Google account. This is ridiculous.

This will not connect to xfinity wifi. Xfinity blocks Nest from connecting. I don't blame nest. I bought an ecobee which works great.

I was excited to learn about this device. I purchased using a $100 ComEd credit. Called my electrician to install and was told he couldn’t. Maybe some other time.

The device is very prone to errors. The battery is unstable even with the c wire connected, which causes errors with the display and wifi. The network adapter is also very sensitive. I lost the ability to connect to any wifi within 4 months of use. The Google support has support hours from 3am to 2pm and is incompetent.

...there is no option for setting your own calendar and schedule. The auto learn feature is not good for people who’s schedule changes from week to week.

The Nest Thermometer allows for remote setting, monitoring and provides great info. A recent incident that was learned of through the Nest, prevented potential freezing damage of internal pipes. I have 2 Nest thermostat controls that provide terrific insight as to what is going on in my home.

With HOME and AWAY and ECO coupled to SCHEDULE, this "LEARNING THERMOSTAT" is already outsmarting and teaching. Add some sensors and you get to be comfortable wherever you are at the time.

I bought the 3rd Generation Nest on Black Friday and I installed it couple of days later. The first two days all was great, it was really impressive. All of a sudden the device started displaying a W2 wiring error and shutting down randomly. We rechecked all the wiring and it just did not work. I took down the device and installed by old $30 thermostat back which worked like a charm! So obviously there was a defect in the wiring panel of the Nest. After spending 40 minutes with Nest support I was asked to install the defective Nest back so that they can troubleshoot it. No way I am doing this and putting my family in the cold again with a device that can possibly damage my 2nd stage heater. I wanted to give a Nest a second chance as defects do happen but my experience with their Customer support just persuaded me not to do so. I am returning the device and will never again consider a Nest product.

it worked wonderfully for about 6 months. then a Wi-Fi chip broke. they changed the product more unfortunately the new one does not mark the right room temperature. I will have to ask for another time to exchange it shouldn't give me so much trouble for the amount I paid

I bought the thermostat 2 weeks a go and for looks its great but im still waiting the electricity bill to see if there are any savings.

Best Buy sold this to me when the Ecobee needed hardwiring at my house. It was sold at full 4 days after it was no longer supported by Google & has done nothing but malfunction. It is under Google Nest warranty but no number or method of contact exists & now I am still paying for a thermostat that will not connect to WiFi & app. Just praying it does not go out completely with temps in the 20s right now …Best Buy should be ashamed

I'm not sure if I like the nest thermostat yet. The temp that I set it at, is not accurate with the room temp. Have to wait and see if it learns.

Great Thermostat but kept going off line so i had to replace with regular Thermostat

Nest makes it too hard to determine compatability ahead of time. Unfortunately, my thermostat could not be replaced with Nest. Returned for full refund.
