Brilliantly designed thermostat

Learns very quickly and no headache of having to program. Yet you still can if you want. Knows when we’re home, when we’re not, when we’re sleeping, etc. Possibly that sounds intrusive but really is a money saver.

In the meantime, the competition has caught up, so this is overpriced and starts to feel old, but I got it anyway to match my other one. The learning feature is useless, imo.

No matter what they say it needs a common wire

They will die in a year. I spent $1800 in Nest Products and was mislead to believe that the Thermostats work without a common wire. Worst part Google/Nest doesn’t care and won’t make accommodations. Highly disappointed*****

Though Nest Learning Thermostat would generally work without a common(C) wire, some systems such as the ones that can’t deliver enough power, gas valves, and zone or relay panels require a common(C) wire to work with Nest thermostats. You would need to contact a local pro for C wire installation.

Disappointed that there was not enough detail on the product page regarding compatibility. After effort to install, ultimately not compatible with our home though we did as much research as possible. The app for install simply states not compatible, but doesn’t give the reason why although we have a compatible system.

Doesn't play nice with Dual Source Systems

It was not able to control the heating/cooling units correctly. I had it professionally installed to ensure there were no issues. After four separate attempts to configure it, we decided to purchase a Honeywell thermostat instead

We had an issue during the installation setup so we called customer service. Well, the lady found the issue very quickly and stayed on the phone until it was fixed. Awesome service

Good Luck getting any help from Customer Service based in Philippines. They will spend hours debugging with you and in the end will not honor the MFR Warranty. Stay away from Google Tech Support and their products.

Installed and it worked like a charm for about 6 months. Then it kept disconnecting from WIFI and only able to work manually. Then it quit altogether. Best Buy total home services simply opened the second I hadn’t opened yet and replaced it three months ago. They couldn’t get it to work either. Worked ok for three months and when we needed the air to work, it started blowing heat. Followed all the instructions found online and nothing worked. Had our heat and ac guy show up today and he checked everything and reinstalled our 15 year old old thermostat and all is fine and working. Complete waste of money. Bought hoping to save and I can go back to moving the thermostat on my own every day.
