As a result, our outside compressor unit would run needlessly for hours and run up the electric bill...so much for saving energy as this thermostat promotes. Plus...this thermostat died one month out of warranty. I refuse to buy another one...total crap! I'm replacing it with a $25 Honeywell (not sexy) but it works and know it will for much longer than the nest.

Doesn’t equal the hype

Read the info/reviews on this one and bought it. Had it professionally installed for $90 by the folks that service my geo-thermal unit. Worked well for four days and then stopped. Tried various approaches to no avail. Called the installers and they said that they have heard similar issues. Had them come to the house and U.N.-install the unit — another $90. Got a Honeywell unit when I replaced the geo-thermal and it works PERFECTLY!!!

No customer support, no one to reach since it stopped working. We bought it a year ago and we are so disappointed with it. It stopped working, cannot find any network around it, not the house and not any....we cannot work it from our phones anymore and need to go down or up all the time to change temp. How can it be? Such a defect product? And no one to talk to

When I look at what's online regarding Nest's plans to support the HomeKit format, there's nothing. I'm planning to sell the item on eBay and get the Ecobee4.

Not worth the money

Started out being nice but it's more of a gadget than being a great thermostat. Yes it's nice being able to control via wifi on your smartphone, but I just started having way too many issues with it. Would come home and it would be 90 degrees in the house on a hot summer day. Would be blowing hot air when it should be cooling. Got to researching and numerous people were having this same issue. Called a HVAC tech and told me best use for these nest thermostats are in the trash. I tried and tied to really love this thermostat but just too many issues. I ended up going back to my old one, WITH NO ISSUES.

Adding manually does not work as the app asks for the device serial number but has nowhere to input the numbers. After researching the internet, the solution is some obscure work around and Google / Nest has ignored the problem for at least the last 2 years. I've been slowly migrating back to an Apple ecosphere after years away. This is one more reason why.

Paid professional air conditioning installation as we just purchased new home. Upon install they noted the turn over from cool to heat does not convert properly due to defect in unit. Called Best Buy. Since >14d since purchase (was not even unboxed until +30d after purchase) they would not refund nor replace + we paid the air conditioning company $100 service charge. Out $325 and no functional thermostat. WILL NEVER AGAIN purchase from Best Buy. Sad to say- as we carry the Best Buy visa and were prior loyal customers. No reciprocated loyalty to their buyers. We have since canceled-

It's been 2 months and I still did not get the replacement of the device which was promised by Google. Case ID 3-3686000036254. In this winter season, the thermostat is such an important device and it is not working for several months. But no response from Google. What a pathetic service!!!

Staff at Best Buy Eden Prairie were not aware of that and did not warn us. Please check before purchasing.

After 5 different support requests, the Google representative has agreed to sent me a replacement unit IF I agree to let them put a hold on my credit card which seems unfair. But now they also want me to establish an email account with Gmail instead of using my existing email. It seems Google is more concerned about you using their entire suite of applications than resolving their defective unit. Buyer beware.
