While you can control and manage the thermostat settings using the app even when you’re not at home as long as your thermostat and Home app (phone or tablet) are both online, the Nest thermostat will show offline in the app if it’s not connected to your Wi-Fi, and you won’t be able to manage the thermostat settings using your phone or app. However, you can change the behavior of your Google Nest thermostat in its settings using the thermostat display. The device appeared to power up and the screen remained blank. Called google and went through their troubleshooting, but no change. The google rep told me to return the item to the store I bought it from.

Going through a nightmare with Google to get a replacement. Never buying this again!! Google will make millions excuses just not to replace the item. I am out of my money with defective item on hand.

This is the worst product I have purchased in a long time. I have tried to figure out how to operate it and it continues to go back to what it thinks I like. I bought it for a cottage and thought it would be great to use when not there in the winter to make sure the furnance is working, yet it continues to change the temp during the day and night to what it thinks I like, would like to be able to set it at a certain temperature and have it stay till I change it.

If the Nest is changing the temperature after you've adjusted it, then the Nest may have saved set points in place that need to be removed. ||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the first year i used it was flawless, it sat in storage for the 2nd year and now i recently purchased a home and decided to connect it to our system, the spin will stopped spinning as i assume the grease dried up and my new ac unit would go on and off multiple times when activated it, i ended up switching to my old thermostat that came with the home and everything is back to normal. I called nest and they could not help me so if you want a thermostat that last a year this is for you, otherwise i would stay away.

I purchased the stainless to go with my items at the house, I love it, the wife loves it and the in laws are asking about. I live in Florida so ac is a must and always running, The thermostat before would always be off by a degree or 2 and can always hear the fan constantly running and the house to me would cool properly, Ive had to keep it down to around 73. That spiked our bill a lot during the summer months. Installation was a breeze, that website worked perfectly for it because you tell it what wires are hooked on your previous thermostat and it tells you where to connect them. Its a breeze and its awesome it comes with the tiny flathead as I didn't need to go out to buy one. You wont need it after that but its a nice tool to keep. Setup was cake and connected to wifi right away, downloaded app to iphone and can control it through my phone! The initial set up the thermostat takes a moment too cool since it is in its learning phase, but I could really tell the difference right away! I can keep the thermostat around 75,76 and its cooler than its ever been! I can already see saving money on a monthly basis, also check with your local power company to see if they can give some sort of break or discount, itll vary from area. I will follow up when I have owned it longer. So far I am in love! For the price, eventually I see it paying itself off and saving money! I mounted the unit to the wall and I patched and painted the wall so it looks clean, if you don't have the ability to do so, there is a cover you can mount that comes with the unit to hide any holes for a clean look

After hiring 4 different people who did not know what they were doing all screwed up my units core wiring i decided to return it. I purchased an ecobee4 and whent trough another couple of installers who made things worse i found one who had to fix all the previous handlers mistakes and ended up paying 700.00 to have the new Ecobee4 installed. So, i am not to happy after all that!

1. Disable learning for the temperature schedule: When Auto-Schedule or Smart Schedule is turned on, it learns from the adjustments you make to optimize your schedule. You can manually edit the existing schedule, create an entirely new one, or turn off these learning features.
2. Turn off or adjust Eco Temperature: Your Nest thermostat gives you a temperature range you can select from when you set an Eco Temperature. The Eco Temperature ranges you can choose from are: 40-70°F (4-21°C) for heating mode and 76-90°F (24-32°C) for cooling mode.

The Geek Squad tried to install this but was unable to do so resulting in my AC not working. Had to get an emergency HVAC tech to rectify problem. Cost of Nest was returned as well as fee paid to Geek Squad, and fee for emergency service to restart AC was paid by Best Buy.

Defective and bad customer support.

Going through google nest chat to replace it is a log drawn out affair... each time the chat takes an hour or more. I say each time because they have sent me two replacement units and both are refurbished and have not worked. I would stay away.

Very difficult to install with 2 zone hvac

I have a 2 zone HVAC system. Current thermostats are battery operated. There was no power going to these thermostat therefore I could not use them. The Best Buy employees are not fully knowledgable in this product.

However, some zoned systems that require thermostat damper control aren’t compatible with Nest thermostats, while other zoned systems may need a C or common wire, or the Nest Power Connector, to be compatible.
