Reviewed this and the Honeywell equivalent. Read Honeywell no longer updated the software. Easily installed the Nest with color coding. Realized a decrease in my electric bill in the first month. I love being able to control it when I’m not home. Amazed at how quickly it learned my preferences at different times of the day and over the weekend. Have already recommended to others, who are pleased also. Well done Nest!

I was skeptical at first, but I find that purchasing this thermostat was a great idea. I don’t have to mess with it now that it knows my schedule. I like that it lights up when I approach it & it’s wonderful to change the temperature when I’m away & I forgot to do it before I left. I would recommend this product.

Beautiful interface. I love how the display can be programmed to show the current outdoor temperature when approaching it, and then display the expected outdoor temps in the coming hours. This has proven to be a great way to find out about the temperature for the day in the morning and help me decide what clothes to wear! Connecting to home wifi network was easy. Phone app is great. I specifically was looking for a thermostat that offered multiple remote temp sensors. The existing thermostat location in our 1980's home leaves something to be desired. It is in a hallway and never does a great job regulating temperatures in the bedrooms it controls. With this thermostat and the complementary remote temp sensors, it should do the trick this winter to keep heat levels comfortable (full disclosure, this was installed this summer and I have yet to see how it performs during the winter. I will update my review if the experience is anything less than stellar). I still wish the technology were not so expensive. I question the money it will save - but that is secondary to me since the issue with sensing the temperatures in the bedrooms was the problem I needed to solve with this thermostat.

This is definitely a good product with some nice features, though some is a little misleading. The ability to program from a phone or PC, or adjust any setting from a phone or PC is really a plus. The thermostat has a sleek design. The app and web interface is easy to use and provides useful information regarding usage and settings. The thermostat itself is a little cumbersome to navigate through the menus, but can be done. Initial setup was really easy and it walks you through the whole process. My only complain is the box and all advertisements always show the fancy display lit up - however, it only lights up when you approach it or walk past it. I wish it was on all the time, but thats not that case.

I was hesitant to spend so much on a thermostat when I've seen other programmable ones for much less. The beauty with this is it really does learn your habits and will save you on your energy bill in the long run. Plus most utility companies will provide rebates for installing one. I really like the fact that you can control it from your phone whether you are home or not. Great for homeowners and landlords that pay for their tenants' heating!

Do not be intimidated to install this on your own it's not hard. The instructions it comes with and YouTube to be on the safe side did it for me. Before installing please make sure to shut your homes power panel breaker prior to uninstalling the old thermostat and installing the Nest (be safe). Take a picture of the way the wires were installed on your old thermostat prior to uninstalling. In doing so this will ensure that your connections are connected correctly. Test your wires one more time prior to uninstalling to make sure no power is running (avoid being shocked or damaging anything). I did not use/install the base-plate (pictures shown) because I wanted a modern, sleek, and clean look. The body and display (40% increase) of the 3rd generation is slightly larger then that of the 2nd generation. If you have children you can lock it so that a child touching it can not change or disrupt your temperature or any of your settings. The stainless steel dial is very smooth and allows you to navigate through the settings with ease. It takes the Nest a couple of days to remember what temperatures you like when you are home and at what times you are home. After a couple of days Nest will ask you if you want it to automatically go into "Away Mode" when it senses you are not home (you decide opt in or opt out - I opted in). I recommend opting in to "Away Mode" for better energy savings. You can control when you are home and when you are away during those few days or if you opt out of "Away Mode" then you control it all. Smartphone application is free and easy to use.

I would highly recommend for ease of use and that I can control the temp from my phone. If your looking to save money on your heating and cooling costs I would highly recommend.

This Nest thermostat was very easy to install after watching a video on YouTube. There are many features that are controlled right from your smartphone.

It works great in my living area! Automatically adjusts temperature which is convenient. Older one worked 4 years after that didnt software update and stopped geating.

The Nest is one of the easiest thermostats to install, set up, and use. I installed it in 5 minutes, including getting it set up on my wireless network. It has already saved me about 20% a month on my electric and gas bills. It also easily integrates with Alexa and many other smart home devices that I have. Highly recommended!

Easily installed with provided instructions or online video. Matched the decor and is already learning family heating/cooling patterns. Great addition for upstairs second unit.

Great thermostat, too 10 min to install, easy to adjust temperature from the smart phone

I have had my Nest for a couple of months now and I have not had to touch it since I installed it. It has learned our schedule and the house is the correct temperature every day. Great product.
