However this is a better known product, and I'm sick of pursuing features over inter-product communication. I have a robust home automation system, so my setup is much more complex than most.

I personally installed my first Nest Thermostat in my home in October 2017 and love it. I bought this one for my office and it was a dud right out of the box. Everything seemed fine, but the thing wouldn't charge on the wall. I called my HVAC guy to inspect my heating and air, he determined the thermostat to be defective out of the box. Aside from that, these things are awesome and I ended up taking this one back to swap it out for another. The new one went right in and fired up, no issues at all.

- Make sure your internet service is working.
- Check your app version. Make sure that you have the latest version of the Nest app
- Restart both your Nest Learning Thermostat. Restart your thermostat to refresh your connection. Once done, try to add it to your account in the app again.
- Restart your router and modem. Unplug your modem and router power cords. Wait for 30 seconds, then plug your modem and router back in.
- Check the settings on your Wi-Fi router or access point. Restrictive firewall security or parental control settings on your Wi-Fi router can sometimes block communication with Nest servers. Refer to your Wi-Fi router or access point documentation to learn how you can exempt the Nest thermostat from these restrictions.

I love how you can set schedules for cooling and heating. As long as you download the app, you can control your home temp even while you’re away from home.

It has saved us some money on our bill and our service provider gave us a check for buying it. It already paid itself off. Only thing is i'd like for it to be a bit more user friendly. I will admit I haven't invested too much time in getting to know how the app works though.

The setup was a breeze (easiest thermostat I've installed so far!). The system takes a few days to "learn" your preferred settings, but once it does you barely have to touch it. While the base price is a bit expensive, these constantly go on sale, so worth waiting & picking up then.
