This is a big improvement on the first version. It's much more sturdy and the materials feel better. Syncs well, and the battery lasts about 6 days. My only minor complaint is that I wish it were a little smaller.

After playing with these so much in-store I finally decided to get one, glad I did! Not only does it save you money, but once you get it hooked into your WiFi you'll be able to control it from anywhere! I can't imagine my life without it now. Nifty feature to lock-out kids too using optional PIN, haha.

I purchased this smart thermostat to replace my old honeywell one. This is much easier to operate, and the installation is pretty easy. Compared to the older models, it is very convenient to use. But the learning seems does not work well, it always heat the upstairs when we are downstairs sometime.

We loved this thermostat so much we replaced every single one in our house.

I have a programmable thermostat, but wanted to upgrade to a smart thermostat. Our HVAC system is a heat pump with forced air electric backup. After purchasing the Nest Learning thermostat, I first went to their website and entered the wire info from our programmable thermostat into their thermostat compatibility chart. There was no match, so I opened a chat session with a Nest tech support person. I sent pictures of our present thermostat wiring, but the tech support person said that she could not help and I should contact one of their listed Nest Support vendors in my area. There are 3 in this area and I sent requests to the 2 closest ones. After a week, I did not get a reply from either. I then saw that Best Buy offered a $99 fee to hook up the thermostat, although I did not know if they would travel the 40 miles to my home. In the end, I decided that it would take a very long time, if ever for me to recover the $99 fee in addition to the $161 cost of the thermostat (with electric company rebate) in savings over my programmable thermostat, so I returned it to Best Buy. Best Buy did refund my purchase price, so thank you for that. If you have a simple HVAC system, this should be easy to install, but if you have anything beyond a simple system you may find that this is not compatible.

Its PERFECT! Install instructions where so simple to understand a child could have followed them. Install was quick and easy all necessary tools included. I love the ability to track my power consumption as well as warm the house before I get home from work or turn it off when i'm sleeping or step out and forget.

I've been using the nest thermostat for a little over 2 years now and have had no problems with it.
