Happy with performance of new thermostat

Nest thermostat tracks your heating/cooling usage, monitors your setting and makes adjustments as needed, and adjusts temperature setting when you are not home. My husband and I have been happy with the functions our new Nest thermostat provides.

I have this connected to my amazon Alexa, which works flawlessly. Programming is very easy and user friendly, and the Alexa is such a nice feature. This is one of the only smart thermostats that does not need the C wire, which is why I initially bought it. Couldn't be happier

I don't liked it. It doesn't integrate well with my other smart home devices (like voice computers).

This is so handy especially when I'm upstairs and need to change the thermostat. Now I can quickly do that through my phone and I also like how it remembers the settings throughout the day. It even remembers to set back when I leave the house because it can detect my phone being away.

Build quality nice but inferior product

I first purchased an Ecobee 3 and after setting a weekly schedule it did a superb job and also worked really well using Siri via Apple HomeKit but since I prefer Android and it didn't integrate with Google Now, I though I would give the Nest a try instead. The build quality of the Nest feels superior since it is heavy and has some heft to it but the user experience is awful. I thought that using the dial for adjusting temperates was more convenient, but that is about all it has going for it, and besides isn't the point to not have to constantly adjust it? More on that later. Using the dial as the only way to navigate the interface is annoying and slow compared to the Ecobee3's touchscreen. To get into the menu section on the Nest you have to press down on the dial and hold it. Once there, you have to navigate everything via the dial and pressing down, very similar to something like BMW's iDrive control knob. Unfortunately it takes way too long to navigate when all you want to do is change a few things. This would perhaps not be so much of a problem if you didn't have to constantly adjust it. Learning? What learning? It's heating all the time when I don't want it to or when I am not home, and then not heating when I am freezing. And yes, it is installed correctly, just in case you were wondering. I even reset it to start the learning process from scratch and still it doesn't seem to every figure out my habits. I did not set up a schedule and one could blame me for that, but honestly the whole device is marketed as being so smart that you shouldn't ever have to manual program a weekly schedule. I have a very regular work schedule as well, so it should have figured out most of my habits after weeks of giving it a shot. As for Google Now integration, it is useless. You give your phone Google Now commands and it rarely ever reaches the Nest. Perhaps that's a problem on Google's side and not the Nest's fault, but it is the same issue with different Android devices. Ultimately though it means that I like very little about this product. I was interested in installing the custom firmware to the Nest which allows you to connect directly to the thermostat via your wifi network without having to have a cloud service as a middle-man, but seeing as though I so strongly prefer having a larger informative touchscreen to the physical knob and a tiny screen that only shows you the temperature when you walk by, I don't really want to keep it. It looks elegant and feels nice to the touch, but the technology is inferior and feels outdated.

Make sure you check for utility rebates got a very nice deal if you get the rebate. There was an issue with the hardware after November software upgrade but got in touch with Nest support and they sent a replacement.

This nest learning device has continuously turned the ac level to 78 every day at the same time,3pm. We have it set to 75. Have all the app and device settings that are associated with eco or scheduling. Wont buy another.

I have now had the Nest for 2 years now. I can say without a doubt that it has already paid for itself. My electric bill in the summer went from around $180-190 to $110-140. During the winter it went from $240-300 to around $170-200. This is a must have!

After reviewing multiple smart thermostats we decided to get the nest. We had an issue during the installation setup so we called customer service. Well, the lady found the issue very quickly and stayed on the phone until it was fixed. Awesome service

Works to control AC and gas furnace. I Turned off some of the temp set learning features since they got the temp wrong and made things worse. Poor use of additional temperature sensor. Remote access works well. Poor at trouble shooting what’s wrong in the AC circuit but probably a problem with all noncommunicating thermostats.

I had a defective one that didn't take the software completely. Nest support was quick and thorough to replace it. Installed the replacement and love it. I am already getting reports on the energy savings being generated by the thermostat learning!!!

Item can not be used /retrofit if you have an older thermostat. Wiring must be added which requires construction. It was suggested be the utility company but was not explained prior to purchase.

I am anxious to see my savings year over year, but so far this thermostat looks like it’s doing it’s job. I love the report that tells me energy consumption on a month by month basis. And I love being able to control it from my phone when I am away.

This was a great purchase! I had to cut the existing wires on the ancient thermostat to get it to work on the nest. Easy to set up though. And it lights up each time you walk by it. I love that I can change the temp while I'm at work from my phone too to save on energy.
